Barclays Airtran > Barclaycard Rewards Visa PC APPROVED!!!

I called in today on my Air Tran Visa and requested a product change to the Barclaycard Reward Mastercard. I no longer travel as much as I was when I got the card + Airtran is moving to SW. I was skeptcial that Barclays would approve the change since I have read that PCs are difficult with them and this was going from a Visa to a MC. I was on hold for about 5 minutes after a transfer and the rep came back and told me the change was APPROVED!. It will be a new account number per the rep but the account open date should backdate so hopefully it will not affect my AAoA.

I'm thinking about this card myself for an August app.

I am excited about it as I now do much more driving than flying. I drive about 35,000 miles per year and the 2% for gas will be a welcome reward ( at least till I rebuild enough to get a higher % reward card)

That is great news! So it will be 1 tradeline still (account number updates) or will it be one closed and one open with the same open date?

Personally speaking, I only have one (current) tradeline with Barclays. There's no hint of anything with the original TL except the history.

Congrats! Was it a hardpull? I'd like to PC to the rewards card from my Apple. Excellent payment history but only 3 short months old.

No it was not a HP.

The represenitive did ask me several questions though. The reason they seemed willing was because I said I would not use Air Tran now that Southwest owns them. She restated that two me like 5 times " So if I understand you correctly, you are no longer using Air Tran due to the Southwest merger..." I do not know if that had anything to do with it or not but that is what she said.

I have not seen anychanges to my online profile as of yet, so the PC must not be instant.

I opened my account in 3/2011.

Logged in this morning and got the "Activate your card" message and the Barclaycard backround instead of the AT backround.

I must say I am extremly pleased with the service from Barclays. They where very helpful this time around. Still can't get them to give me a CLI, but at least I can put the $2K I have with them to better use with this card.

They also kept the card as a Visa, which I did not know they even offered the Barclaycard Rewards in a Visa.

Good morning!

I just wanted to post an update to this.

I got my new card in the mail in about 10 days. It was a new account number, however it updated on my CBR and kept all of the age and other details.

I am really enjoying the rewards on this card. 2 points for every $1 spent on Grocery, Gas, and Utilities. I have started running my cell phone, electric, cable, grocery purchases, and all of my gas through the card and plan to PIF every payday.

I was awarded 1,000 bonus points right after my first purchase.

This card seems great so far! I have no complaints and I am thrilled Barclay's let me PC to it. My one year anniversiary with Barclay's is coming up soon, so we will see if any CLI's, CLD's, or other account changes head my way.

Good job on PC, I really think its because Airtran is going away
