Chase CO PP Benefits Post-Merger

So I just got off the phone to activate my card, and after a lengthy chat with the CSR I was told that none of the benefits are changing. It's being renamed the "united club card", but beyond that everything else is staying the same. It's even staying as a World Elite MC. After March 3rd they're removing it from the website and won't be taking any more apps for the PP. I'm not thrilled about the new name, but at least the benefits aren't being reduced.

I'm under the impression that the new card will be a Visa. United has an exclusive deal with Chase and Visa to issue their cards...unless the current PP cardholders are grandfathered into MCs.

That's what I was expecting to hear. If it is a visa, would it be a visa signature? It seems like a world elite MC is a higher level card than a signature. There are very few world elites but quite a few signatures out there.

As of 3/1, they will no longer accept applications for the Chase Continental Airlines OnePass Presidential Plus World Elite MasterCard. Existing holders will be converted to the new United Mileage Plus "United Club Card" World Elite MasterCard sometime in March. On 3/20, the new United Mileage Plus "United Club Card" Visa Signature will launch reflecting the same benefits as the original card but only available as Visa Signature. According to a rep I spoke with, which seems to vary depending on rep.

The Visa equiv to World Elite MasterCard is Visa Infinite, which afaik no US issuer currently offers.

Gotcha...so it looks like the current members are being grandfathered in to the Woeld Elite MC

Looking at the future United site, it looks like there's a MileagePlus Club card soon to be launched as well.

Why don't they offer the visa infinite in the US? Also how would you compare the infinite vs world elite? Is one significantly better than another?

Got a picture of the card while logged into my MileagePlus account. Seems the name is United MileagePlus Club Visa Signature from Chase.

I think Visa Infinite and World Elite MasterCard offer very similar benefits and services, both go beyond Visa Signature and World MasterCard. I guess until Visa lowers the min CL of $20k, we won't see Visa Infinite. Seems US banks like to dilute products with low limits and Visa isn't allowing it with Infinite. The JP Morgan cards would be better suited as Visa Infinite.

I just don't want to get downgraded to a visa signature if I already have a World Elite MC. We'll know for sure when the new cards get sent to us. =/

I'm very tempted to apply for the business version before it goes away 3/1. I'm assuming the benefits will stay the same on it as well correct? 2pts/$1 on dining, gas, and office supplies is very nice to have all on one card.

You won't. The United rep has confirmed this, you will get the United Mileage Plus Club World Elite MC.

When Infinite launched several years ago, Visa declared the card as its premium and highest product ever. On the official Visa spec sheet, Signature falls below Infinite. Both products are available in select markets and some even offer both, but Signature isn't the US equiv of Infinite. Infinite offers more World Elite benefits like Priority Pass, etc.

Well I saved the application landing page which still goes to a valid application, but when I try to maneuver from chase.com or continental.com I get redirected to a blank site. You think it's still safe to apply?
