Citi Platinum Select - World Upgrade?

I found some old threads, but I'm looking for some current information

Today I logged into my Citi account to see that "my new card was being sent to me", except that I hadn't asked for a new card. I called to make sure there was no funny business going on, & they said that the account had been selected for an upgrade to the World card. He/she (not sure) said it had more benefits, but I didn't really ask what they were, since we don't really use this card for anything except the 0% it came with.

Is this one of those #$&* accounts that doesn't report a credit limit? I thought it had to have a high limit, like 25k or something? (It's only 5k.)

Now I'm wondering if I will have to call back & tell them I don't want the darn thing.

I think it is, have you asked a CSR if they report the CL?

No, I didn't think of it until I hung up. I knew there was some reason people didn't want the upgrade when this happened a while back, but I couldn't remember what it was.

Yes, they reported CL on my Citi Dividend World MC.

A World Mastercard provides more benefits than a platinum mastercard. I would be happy with the free upgrade

Perhaps, but only if you are going to use them! LOL. I never really even think about the "perks" of our cards.

Yes, it is a true upgrade. They changed account number and sent me a new card with PayPass on it. I have had the card for a couple of years now.

Yup, if they're not reporting the CL, it's of no use to you if your not going to use it.

I didn't any use any of those benefits. I only interested in earning cash back on the card.

That sucks. Maybe I will see if I can opt out of it. I'd rather have them report the limit. I don't need a card with concierge service or anything fancy like that.

They said my number was going to stay the same, though, so that's different from Ron's experience. I wonder if it matters? I don't want them to open a new account.

Give them a call and iron out the details while you still have a chance to decline!

Well they said they already sent the card out. If I hadn't logged in today, I wouldn't have seen it til tomorrow or the next day.

You may still be able to decline the offer considering you didn't ask for it nor have you had the chance to read the T&C on the card.

It will give you a number starting with 5466.

True, true. I'm going to email them (they're pretty fast!) & see what they say. I hope it works out like Ron's did! That would be fine with me, I guess.

Same thing is happening to me too and they're also converting my Diamond Preferred card to a world card too.I sent a secured message and got the answer straight and to the point unlike csr's.

I just got my "upgraded" Platinum Select World Mastercard in the mail yesterday. Card number did not change. Still starts with 5424. The only difference is above the Mastercard logo it says "World". If you look at some prior threads on this, it seems there won't be a change to the way it reports.

They upgraded bot my Citi cards to world but there's likely no difference in perks. They don't even look cooler.

First, lots of world mastercards now report a limit. My usaa world mc is labeled as a flexible spending account, but reports a credit limit. Second, the warranty, price protection and rental insurance are big upgrades from standard mc. You might at least give the card a try before panicking.
