Does it mean I got denied?

So I just went to the Chase Freedom website and applied for the credit card. It said it is in further review and could take up to 10 days. Doesn't that usually mean you are denied? I applied with them last May and was denied because I was an autherized user on an account that was turned over to collections. I have since then gotten that removed from my credit reports. What do you think my chances are??? My score on Myfico right now is a 661. Any feedback is welcomed

I just did the exact same thing as you last week (3/7/2012) and got the same response. Call the backdoor number for Chase listed on this site's Community topics.

I spoke with a very nice rep who I explained gto that all my of collections were at least 3 years old and I haven't had any late payments recently. She agreed to do a recon of my app and I was approved for 4k. I'm hoping to get my card in the mail today!

My FICO's are: TU 707 | EX: 680 | EQ: 660

So did you call right away when you got that message or did you wait to recieve the letter in the mail? I just want to make sure I do it correctly! Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions!!

Call them. Sometimes it'll say that and you might have been approved right away but it won't show up automatically on the screen.

No, it means they are further reviewing your file and may need additional information from you. I would give them a call.

I just did the same thing last week and received the same 7-10 day message. The next day I got the e-mail with an approval for 3K! I hope that helps......

Yep! I have been lurking for quite some time! Well we gave them a call and they denied us The guy told us that we don't have a long enough credit history and the credit cards we do have are all low limits...duh! We could only get the cards with lower limits. I am thinking about calling again later to see if we can talk to someone else and have better luck...hate this!!

Which number did you call? You need to call the "backdoor" number listed in the sticky above. I might also wait until Monday, since I would be surprised credit analysts work weekends. If you just called a CSR, they can tell you what happened, but can't do anything about it.

It's very frustrating.

No one wants to be the first to give you a higher limit, but how would you ever get a higher limit if you're never given that first chance? In my view, the best thing to do is to try and pick a few prime issuers you like and build a relationship with them. This is far and away the best way to build a higher CL, in my estimation.

Unfortunately, it'll take some time.

I did call the backdoor number ;( You are probably right, I should atleast wait until Monday to call back. I am starting to think that I jumped the gun and tried to go for a card way out of my reach! Can anyone recommend a card for me to try and apply for with a credit score in the 660s? I have one baddie from 2007 that has been settled on and everything else...house, car, and the 5 other little credit cards that I do have are all paid on time and pif every month

-How many recent INQ's do you have on all of your reports individually??

-How many CC accounts do you have, and what are the ages of them?

I have 12 inquires BUT 6 were from when I got a car in July of last year. The others are due to fall off in Sept and Oct. They are from Cap 1 (Sept) and BB Mastercard (Oct), which I didn't mean to do! Long story. My house I got in Dec 10' and all of the cards and new car I got last year. I spent so much time trying to get my credit up to get the house that once we did it was great but we didn't have any other credit. So I just got a couple of credit cards all with limits 500 and below to get the ball rolling. I have put in so much time and want to get a prime card but doesn't seem like anyone will give me a chance ;( When I say "us" I am talking about my husband and I. We didn't apply together I was just including him when I talked about calling

I would suggest gardening for a year before apping for anything else. Let those INQ's age and you'll be in great shape for prime then!

You might as well call once more on Monday. If they reject, at least ask them if you might qualify for the Chase Slate (seems to be their intro card).

If you are eligible for membership in USAA or NFCU, those both have more forgiving standards (but you have to be a full member of USAA, they don't appear any different than other lenders when it comes to limited membership applicants). Otherwise, consider a local credit union.

But honestly, 660 is pretty marginal for prime cards. Unless you have substantial income or assets, any card you get is likely to have a low limit. If you don't really need another card right now, I agree with others about waiting. Though I might try in 6 months instead of a year. By then, you should be north of 680 and all the auto inquiries should be gone.
