Left in sock drawer too long.

So I go to Kay.com to look for a gift to my wife for our 26th anniversary. To my surprise I learn that the account was closed 12 days ago due to inactivity. Today is 2 years and 12 days since the last time the card was used. Oops! That was a $2k CL with $0.00 bal. Oh well. The friendly lady said I could app again. Lesson learned: Check the sock drawer more often.

Did you ask the friendly lady if you could just open the same one up again, seeing as how it was less than a month ago?

Wow. Sorry to hear that. I'm surprised they wouldn't at least send you a letter of warning. My former bank did that when my account had been inactive for a period of time, with a small balance. I guess the CCCs don't need to do that, so they don't. I'll definitely make sure I have some activity on my SD cards!

The only one I worry about inactivity is CareCredit. I wonder if a vet will trim cats claws and I can use carecredit?

I got bit by the same bug a few months when my $2k Hooters card was closed. It sucks as I needed that line for UT purposes and it really hadn't been that long since I'd paid it off, six months or so.

Bummer. Sorry that they canned your card too. And from what people have said the Hooters® card isn't taking applications anymore.

Guess that to be safe you should probably use at least once every 3 months or so.....

We use it buy our dogs' heartworm preventative. Our vet's office doesn't care so long as a valid form of payment is tendered, which CareCredit is.

Absolutely! After I pay of the intro amount (dental work, fun), all I have are checkups... All covered by insurance... Maybe I need to break my arm or something to keep my util low!

But seriously, doesn anyone have experience with Care Credit closing due to inactivity?

Care credit closed my card after one year of not using it. I used it the year before to have my dog fixed.

I'm trying to find ways to use mine. I like having this card available for emergencies.

They closed my card after only 5 months of inactivity. Never even got to use it! Oh well, my own fault.

Citi closed my Sears MC (5k cl) and Home Depot (1k) without any notification. I happened to check online and couldn't login. I called and they told me it's due to inactivity. They should have sent letters or emails or something. I found that to be so inconsiderate. I don't think I would want to do deal with them again. If you carry a balance and pay regularly but not incur any new charges for a long time, would that be considered inactive?

Some of the people that run CC companies probably used to work for the Government.

Instead of closing people's accounts, they should give them some incentive to use them. Costs more to get a new customer then to keep an old one.

These are the same people that wont approve CC with perfect credit other then something thier ex wives did years ago.

I found a vet that does cat claw trimmings and takes carecredit!! Sweet!! Now I got a monthly spend for the card!
