Costco Amex limit

So I applied for this card online. I got an email a few days later saying I was approved and I should be receiving the card in a few days. So I get the card and I was thinking it would have a limit of 2k on it because that's what most people on here have been saying is the initial limit on this card. But I open the envelope and low and behold, the limit on the card was $15,700... Quite a bit higher than the 2k limit everyone talks about on here. Any thoughts?

Wow, congrats !! That's a great CL. What was your largest open CL showing on your reports before this ?

I'd say it's time to go shopping. Maybe hit up Costco first, splurge on a 128 pack of Charmin ??

Highest was a 10,600 Citi. Just went today but no Charmin, got the Kirkland brand toilet paper.

Will I be able to apply with a BK on reports??

network meaning that it can only be used at costco? nope, can be used anywhere. i think amex may be a little weary with a bk...

No, it is an AMEX and can be used anywhere where AMEX is accepted.

And If your BK is very old you should have a decent shot as long as you didn't burn AMEX in it.

Wow! Awesome limit! Congrats!

Yeah, they gave me $2k last month. But my highest CL is only $2500, so it's in that range. Also, I have a thin file and short history.

If you have a stronger credit history, then it would warrant a higher limit. Frankly, I was hoping for at least $5k and was a little disappointed. I'd be singing and dancing if I had gotten $15k like you!

Lol, thanks. Not quite dancing but very surprised it was so high. I always thought that Amex was very conservative.

They are conservative with their approvals, but once you are in they seem to be generous with the CLs. And in case $15K isn't enough you can request a CLI in 60 days.

No, it is an AMEX and can be used anywhere where AMEX is accepted.

And If your BK is very old you should have a decent shot as long as you didn't burn AMEX in it.

BK is from 6-2005

Yes, they do auto~CLIs. But even if you request a CLI it is only a soft pull, so either way it's all good.
