I say go for the PR Gold if that's what you want. I don't have an Amex charge so I don't know what the dirrences in colors are although it seems like maybe the PR had some kind of bonus categories or something.

This is a question you might want to ask in November, when you have a clearer picture of your score.

It could be even higher than 720. I'd say just wait and see what happens until then, but if it is what you want, I'd say go for it.

It all depends on what you want and your spending patterns. In order to justify a high 175.00 annual fee you would have to be using the card alot and for the bonus categories (especially if you book alot of airfare). If you aren't spending alot on air travel then I would go with the green which has a 95.00 annual fee that is waived the first year. Almost all the same benefits but nearly half the fee.

First year free on the PR gold, at least currently, makes it a no-brainer. If you're a new card member there's also a decent sign up bonus.
Whether or not it works out long term you have a year to find out.
That's my take. I use points for travel and value each at at least 2 cents, sometimes more like 4-5 cents.
So doing the math I need to spend far less than most people might figure to come out ahead of the AF.
YMMV. I also use the bonus mall, for example charging a new ipad on the plat will net over 2400 points (4X with plat). With the current BA 50% xfer bonus that becomes like 3600.
Which in airfare terms is likely at least $72.
It's not always so cut and dry. Most people spend a bit on groceries if not gas. So the $50 difference probably works out. The zync is a great card also as long as you don't plan to transfer points. Personally I think the gift cards are a lousy deal for redemption.
Another tip on gift cards. You can buy some through the bonus mall on buy.com for extra points if thry have anything you use.

There is no perfect card for everyone and it will depend on what your spending is like. If you are buying airfare each month then I would suggest PR Gold because of the 3X multiplier, but unless you spend on air travel then 2X gas and groceries alone do not justify a 175.00 annual fee for most people.

Well, it all depends on your spending level and types of spending along with the current promos at the time.

PR Gold - If first year fee is waived and sign up bonus, I would chose EVERY time. Before the fee hits, just downgarde to Green/Zync for the lower fee. You might even be offered a lowered fee Green if you request account closure.

If the PR Gold has no bonus or first year fee waived, I would only app for if I spend on airfare and will approach spending $30k. Without airfare and the $15k bonus, you'll NEVER make the $175 worthwhile.

Green, I would only app for if I travelled, and if there isn't any promos on the PR Gold.

Zync, I would chose if my spending will be below $20k/year, and I never travel.

What I would do is not app until there's a promo for the PR Gold. Right now, they're offering 25k bonus signup + first year fee waived. A moderately good deal, but I think we may see 50k bonus, though Amex has cut back significantly on generally offered signup bonuses. At this point, most signups will be tragetted offers.

Edit - When I say travel, I don't mean booking on their site. I mean, you need to be in a position to transfer MR points to FF programs. MR points aren't worth it if you do it any other way. Also, unless you're travelling soon, I'd get the Zync to rack up points faster, then app for a new PR Gold when there's a promo to transfer the points. Before the annual fees hit, then you can downgrade to the Green, and close the Zync.
