Discover "conversions"

I was reading some credit card reviews and came across a link to Discover's web site that allows you to switch rewards programs. I've only had the Discover More card since December, so I was suprised that it allowed me to choose between all their products except for Escape. I am eligible to switch to Escape in November if I choose.

I haven't really been satisfied with the Discover More's 5% categories and 0.25% cash back at Walmart (where I spend $500 monthly). I have the PenFed for 5% gas, and on May 1st my product change to Citi Forward will be active for Amazon and restaurant spending. With my other credit cards my Discover More didn't really fit any niches.

I however, don't have a travel card, so I opted to change to Discover Miles through the web site. My Discover Miles will be active beginning April 4th! The 1 mile per $1 for all spending and the additional benefits (lacking in Discover More but common to every other card I have) helped me with the decision. Thanks Discover! I was considering closing the account for housekeeping purposes.

I have to agree, as far as rewards are concerned... More lags behind my Freedom and my BCE by far.

But it's the one card I can get cashback for paying my utilities on it. I've just stuck to the quarterly rewards and my utilities so far, but put most of my charges on the other two. I didn't know you could switch though. I might have to look into that since I was looking at the Miles by Discover before I applied for the More.

If you log into your Discover account, click on the Help Center tab, then under "Manage Cards & Rewards" there is a link "Change Rewards Program." My wife just got approved for the Discover More earlier this month, and that page says she is not yet eligible.

Do they send you a new card? They said I could convert to Open Road or Motiva. Thinking about it. It's not another hard pull right?

I didn't know you can do it online. I called them to change from Discover More to Discover Miles last week.

Hmm, didn't know that feature existed! But none of the other rewards programs look good to me, so I'm not sure there's any sense in changing.

No hard pull. The secure message I received after I chose the Discover Miles stated I would get a new card, but also that my current card can be used until I activate the new card. I'm a big proponent of K.I.S.S. throughout my life, and I only had one credit card until last November, but I've been very impressed with my overall experience with Discover so far.

Last time I asked, they told me you must call and request the change. Miles gives 1 'mile' per dollar with the exception of restaurants and travel. For those its 2 points per dollar up to 3K spend per membership year.

Miles can not be transfered. They act as a statement credit for travel. You book travel on the card. Any airline, any seat. Then within 90 days you call or apply a credit online.

10,000 miles = $100 credit.

I want to pc from miles to escape do to 2% back on everything but its not allowed currently. Miles is a decent card and has no af. For me its mostly been replaced by sapphire preferred due to the same reward earing structure but no 3K cap. Also Ultimate Rewards are a better fit for me as you can credit your card the same as miles or transfer the points to UA/CO/other partners.

For people that dont push volumes through their cards, miles can be a great fit if you travel 1-3 times a year.

Yeah, between my Disc/Freedom/BCE, I'm finding it hard to beat the Freedom so far.

If cash is what your looking for then I would stay with what you have. Your current cards will give you more return than the 1% from miles.

I've been trying for the past 18 months to product change from the More card to the Escape, but they kept stating that they were still working on the terms to allow a change to an AF card. I switched to the miles card for awhile but the rewards through Shop Discover were so much greater with the More card that I switched back. On the 16th I noticed that Escape is now listed on their site as a card that can be changed to. I made the request and it will take effect in 45 days. I mainly wanted it for the primary rental car coverage but now I have 4 other cards that offer it, so at this point I will just use it where I would only get 1% back on my other cards.
