Credit Card Rewards Database

Is there a searchable rewards database so that if I'm making a purchase on a site, I can quickly look and see what credit cards offer bonus points for that merchant? I'm sure there is but 10 minutes of Googling didn't turn up anything.

I don't think so, but most are by categories so shouldn't be to hard.

Grocery Store

Restaurant

Bar

Auto

Gas

+1 I have never heard of such a database and I consider myself a connoisseur of reward cards Although it would be pretty sweet if one actually existed!

No, I mean shopping through a rewards program. So let's say I want to shop at NewEgg, I can search and see which rewards program offers the most points.

I checked out Evreward and that's along the lines of what I'm looking for, but it's seriously lacking and needs updating.

I imagine it would be pretty hard to have a completely accurate up to date one, but I like evreward especially as a starting ground.

Hardly. I could write a program in a few hours that would log into the major rewards program and scrape all the info.

Definitely do it!

I have a Citi Cash Returns, Chase Freedom, & Amex BCP. Between specials offered at places like Barnes & Noble I'm not always sure which card to use.

What would be more useful IMO is a database where you can lookup any store and it will tell you what the merchant is categorized as. Would be useful for the times when I buy something and wonder if the merchant is categorized as a grocery store, or a restaurant, because for the Discover more there is a big difference between 5% and 0.25% lol

To make things more complicated each network may classify things under different categories. For example, my Citi Forward (Visa) counts Amazon as a bookstore so I get the bonus for that. My Amex BCE counts Amazon as a department store so I also get the bonus for that.

Guys, I'm not talking about in-store puchases for bonus categories. I'm talking about shopping online at specific merchants where rewards programs offer X% back on your purchase.
