thank you everyone for helping me understand the diffrent types of cards, banks,lenders,etc... i never would have known amex chase and citi are prime and cap1 is subprime as well as FP. if it werent for these forums i would still have most of my subprime cards and maybe never even thought of an amex....these forums have both helped and hurt but i learned alot from you all. i now think i have a good set of cards to garden with for the next six-12 months...as such tomorrow will be my last day here for at least the next few months.. i am removing any temptations by seeing i got this with this and that with this... i am going to work on bring my UTL down more from the current 22% to the "prime" 9%. and work on closing some subprime cards.. the only two i have left cap'1s as well as some other retail cards...i know i shouldnt close cards that arent costing me anything but it will help me achive my goals because i dont have to worry about using the card to keep it current.. when i come back in six months i hope to have this:

Slate

BoA

Zync

BBY

Jared

Kohls

Prime card yet to be named

i feel like i cant achive this unless i remove my self from this site for a while....so thank you again for your help

Appbar, remember that the forums are not the only sourse of temptation to app. You will go to a store and they will invite you to app for their store card. You will see an add for the latest greastest card on TV. You will see someone paying in line in front of you with a really cool CC. You will get CC "pre-approvals" in the mail.

If you are sincere about gardening, good luck and stay strong. We will see you back here soon, when you are ready or you need support to stay in the garden.

Why not chill in the garden thread afbar?? Leaving the forum isnt going to help you if you have an app urge. Like other posters have said the tempation is going to be all around you no matter what. YOU have to WANT to do good for YOU. Youll be a better man in the future knowing you can conquer your app urge with all elements around you there.

What's the point of someone with app issues hanging out and reading discussions on CLIs, "yippie, I got approved!", and so on all day? Even people gardening app like crazy!

The point is its no different than being on the outside. if you cant control it because you know you need to then I dont know what to say. You'll get more SUPPORT here than anywhere else when you have the itch.

I have too tried to dislocate from the forums for a while. It is too easy to get caught up in things.

Still come by daily to read though. It reminds me of smoking. You can quit for a while but it is sure hard to stay away!

I understand your feelings, afbar, and wish you well. Yes, it can be hard to resist the urge to app with all of the news of approvals coming at you left and right. The Garden Club threads were intended to help mitigate that, but even that got out of hand -- this month in particular. So, do what you need to do to achieve your goals, and if that means taking a break, I understand completely. We'll be here for you when you're ready to join us again.

I really disagree. On the outside, people rarely discuss finances, bad credit, rebuilding, rejection, app-addiction, etc... because the topic is sensitive.

Support? Sure. That being said, no amount of support in the world is gonna stop/help someone determined to hit the submit button. People keep apping until getting what they want or the rejection is too much. As far as inquiries go, people will say "They'll all fall off at the same time so there's really no harm in an app spree".

If being here isn't good for Apbar, moving on makes sense.

Congratulations on taking care of yourself! I also have taken a break from here before, because I knew I just couldn't app, and it was really hard to keep reading about everyone getting credit cards and CLIs, when I knew that apping for more CCs would keep me further from my goals. Really, it's like an alcoholic hanging out in a bar.

You've made a lot of progress since you came here, and I'm sure you'll do well trusting yourself and *not* going where there's temptation (like the CC thread! ) Looking forward to hearing how great you're doing in the future. Good luck!

I am not gonna be gone for ever ill be back in six months or so. I have to set my mind into not apping....i have redid my goal and would only like one more card...the citi foward student...but im waiting..i no longer want bce... i have determined a good number of cards for me is 5-6.. zync and three bank primes and two retail..bby and kohls since i shop there the most.. when i get my last prime card...i will be closing jared...home depot...and all cap1s will be closed by years end..

I needed hd last year but no longer need them... i would like to get forward before closing since citi is the bank... i also have srudent loans there..i would like a good set of cards to grow with for years to come.
I feel with citi... i should be good all prime cards
