Dell Financing

So I am in need of a new laptop, rather quickly. Mine just had an issue that has cause it to basically be totaled (it will cost more to fix it than it's worth, plus it's 2.5 years old) I am looks at Dell's and HP's. I see Dell has a financing option that is underwritten by Web Bank. I'm in gardening, but school starts Mnday and I will need it on or around then. Have any of you had any experience with Dell financing? If you were approved, what did your credit profile look Ike at the time of approval, and what sort of limit were you given? Thanks Logan

With your scores it should be an issue. How are you with INQ's?

I could, and I could also pay cash, but I figured I would ask about Dell financing because I would continue using at whenever I needed a new computer...

Web Bank is EQ.

I would take the oppurtunity to purchase either through Amazon or Ebay.

Bill Me Later is also backed by Web Bank and would be way more useful to you later then a Dell Card. It also will give you at least 6 months if not 12 or more probably when looking at laptops.

Also Amazon or Best Buy sometimes offer 18-24 months for 0%, you just have to check around.

Amazon is GE, Best Buy HSBC.

But I would stick to the accounts that won't report to your credit and that is Bill Me Later!

I think you'd be better off continuing to garden and paying for it straight up, you;ll get better terms that way.

I know, I have an Amazon card, but are you saying is that I should just apply for a BML account instead of a Dell account, so that I can use BML letter down the road?

BML is nice but if you have Amazon why not use that?

I Love the Bill Me Later, the CL will continue to rise and move as they trust you more and as your credit gets better... they almost ALWAYS offer at least 3 months 0% but I have not seen many options less then 6 months 0%.

Amazon is good if your CL is high enough but they don't always have the special APR in place, you would have to look into that.

There's an issue with the fan that is causing some sort of scraping noise, it gets to the point where I can actually stop the fan buy applying enough pressure to the upper left quadrant of the laptop. I still need to get in there myself and see if anything is actually loose. I'm just preparing for the worse, as it is a 2 and a half year old laptop.

My laptop was 4 years old and had a hard drive issue. I scrapped it for a new desktop and then found out it was just a question of replacing my hard drive on the laptop, which at most would have cost me 60 bucks and a few hours of my time.

You sound like you know what you're doing, so I trust your judgment on what's going on

And now from what I'm seeing on Amazon, the same computer I was looking at on Dell.com is priced over $100 higher in Amazon

Have you checked Newegg?

I know they're a lot better about desktops, not so sure about laptops, but it's worth a try. That or Tigerdirect.

DGF app'd with dell and was given 3k to start with. She cancelled her account 1.5 months ago, and I told her to re-instate it, so they gave her an auto-CLI to 5k. We've never put more than $1500 on it PIF'd immeidately. She's going to keep them around. See just how far they will grow.

I have a Dell card, and I like it. I only purchase things when I get offers (which happens frequently) for 0% financing.

I bought a laptop last year with 0% financing for 18 months (had an initial credit line of $2000), and after 3-4 months of paying on it they raised my credit limit to $4000.

That was a nice surprise!
