I currently have about a year left until I’m free from the interest shackles of Chase (I’m currently at 5.99% fixed). Because I harness a lot of hatred for Chase after they tried to pull that $10/month “maintenance fee” on me, I’d sock drawer that puppy once it’s paid off and not care if it closed on me, but unfortunately it will be my oldest account, so I’m still stuck with Chase.

Once the card is paid off, I will be paying in full going forward. Do you think it’d be possible to PC the Chase Slate card once it’s at 0, and if so, what products do you recommend?

My TU is at about 717 with 31% utility 6.5 AAoA (down from 760 after an installment loan was paid off), but I’m imagining my scores will all be higher when this is all said and done (close to 10% utility but a few old closed accounts from 1998 will be falling off).

I PC'd a Slate card to Chase Freedom to take advantage of the 5% categories and the Ultimate Rewards Mall. My intro 0% APR and non-intro APR remained the same. I'm really enjoying the Ultimate Rewards Mall which provides 15% cash back on Groupon and 12% cash back on Restaurant.com purchases (+1% for all purchases). I've made nearly $30 this month using the Rewards mall.

OP: Why would you want another card from a company you say you hate so much? Pay off your current account and find a more customer friendly bank (or credit union.)

I have to keep this account open because it's my oldest TL (and unfortunately the next oldest card is several years newer) - might as well get a more useful card if I'm going to have to use this every few months to keep it from closing.
