Discover CLI?

Is it a HP if I ask for a CLI? I just reached my 6 months with them.

I remember reading it was HP with them but not sure.

I've read that for the most part it's a HP, but you have to "play" with the number. Sometimes people have gotten a CLI without the HP, but they had to ask for less.

Supposed to be a soft unless they ask for a HP. I just hit 6 months and had my 6th statement cut mid march with no Auto CLI but the increase credit limit button appeared. I have pressed it 5-6x now seeing if it would fire but no. It always says cannot process at this time, please call 800 discover. Maybe I shoul just call in lol

The CLI button hasnt popped up on my end.

I might call them and see what they say. I'm at $6500 right now so even an CLI to 10k would be good

It seems like $500 is a freebie, over that is HP.

I just got a CLI on Discover last month. It was a SP. I was able to fill out the form online that asks for income info, etc. I requested a 1K increase and they came back and said we can approve you for 1K, if you want more we will need to call in or pull report. I have read and understood that you can ask for whatever you want, they will counter with an offer and that is SP. If you want more than the offer it is HP.

If you call in there is a phone menu option for asking for a CLI. I have tried it before and it always said you need to speak to a representative. I'm not entirely sure if the option of speaking with them will be an HP or not. I always declined and hung up. I had the card for about twenty months when I finally got the CLI online option.

You can always call the use the automated voice system. I believe it's option #5 then #4 to request an increase. It will ask you for income and housing payement and whatnot and how much of an increase you want, then it will either grant the increase or say that more information is needed and will transfer you to a customer service representative at which point you can just hang up.

If you do choose to speak to a rep, they will enter all the above info again and of course they'll get the same outcome and tell you that a credit check is needed. But they will not HP without your permission.

Keep in mind that even if you hang up before speaking to a customer service rep the CLI request will show on your account so don't attempt too many of these

I kept hitting the CLI button lately and with the cannot process at this time message popping up everytime. Well what do you know, Discover called me on Friday and asked if I wanted to do the CLI on the phone, they would update job info and may or may not be a HP. Well err, I declined at this point. Did anyone else play with the button and got a call from Discover (sorry about the thread jack)

Yes, I received a call. Search for my thread. I asked, the CSR told me it'd be soft unless she needed to pull hard, which in my case wasn't necessary.

I look at that button like I do with AMEX's spending ability button...............DO NOT TOUCH!!!!

The Discover luv button will try for an increase with a soft. It will tell you if they need additional information, you must agree to a hard pull.

I was told that all CLI's at $10k+ are always HP. There's no way around it. If anyone here has success, please post so I can call back.

Tried clicking the luv button last week, but got the "cannot process at this time, please call 800 discover"...However, I logged in the next day and noticed that they had give me an auto cli of $300...second auto cli in 6 months, both were $300 each...I have the card 6 months.

The luv button has not disappeared since I've hit it. It did disappear a few months ago, but I remember it disappeared for a lot of people here on this forum.

Went from $12,600 to $20,000 with a HP and income verification (they called my work HR). As long as you don't have any issues I would call and go for the CLI.

I recently got a cli of $2000 with only a soft pull. I've never had the luv button, and my acct was opened in 2006. I always have to do a search. It usually says "can't process at this time." This time, I asked for $2000, and it immediately said, "congratulations!" it also said if I wanted more, it would be a HP. I declined and took my $2K happily!

I called in yesterday and asked for a CLI. She asked a few questions and then said there was nothing she could do ATM. I sent them a secured msg after cause I'm worried they did a hard pull without asking. Oh well I will post back when I get a reply, maybe I will SD my card for a few months
