Amex Zync Credit Limit Button???!

Is it bad if u try to use that button to kind of see if u have a high limit?

I've heard they may FR you. I tried 5k once just for fun and it was approved.

They aren't going to FR you for checking your limit. That's why they put the button there, to allow you to test an amount to see if your purchase will be approved.

Put something in line with with monthly income. If your gross monthly income is only 4k, don't ask Amex if you can spend 5k in the card. Mine was approved at 3k when I cheCked it. I actually spent 2953.

I while back I asked to spend $1200 and it declined me. Just now I checked for $3000 and it approved it. Not that I'm going to push that through th card in a month, but its good to know they increase your "internal limit" after a while.

I've read that your internal limit increases if you charge and pay a lot in the first few cycles, and pay like the day your statement cuts. It boosts your internal Amex score

Of course, you should use the button when you need to know what you can charge at any given time.

I'm sure there's "no" harm in doing so. I wouldn't advise pressing it 50 times per day though.

That's a no brainer. I have pressed it 3 times since January. All times, I haven't come close to charging the allotted amount.

I've read that the charge card internal limits increase rapidly with good payment history... much faster than a revolver from Amex. I've been lurking in the business forum, and a lot of business owners are starting with 2-5k internal limits and paying a lot in the first cycle, and are now at over 50k internal limits. I suspect Amex looks at your spending pattern and payment pattern as well as income when setting the internal limit.

I started with a 2,200.00 internal limit in early febuary and now am definitely over 5,000.00 for internal limit (soon to be higher after a big spending month once I pay). It grows much quicker than a revolver would once you have shown them you will pay on time.

The method I use to test my spending limit is to pay all my typcal bills for the month on the card, for example if that is $2000 and I want to test to see if I have a $4000 limit, I use the button to check if i can run a $2000 additional on the card, it may be less impactful to AMEX than if i just tried $4000 on a card with a zero balance showing. Then I usually PIF shortly after that

They don't really care if you use that check spending ability button but just don't go crazy with it. It is there for a reason, not to punish you for being curious.

Im still on my $500 auto pay . I figured I would check it. Here is the message I got. "This request exceeds the limit on this account. Please go to Pay Bill to make a payment to bring your balance down so you'll have more room to spend".

I agree with this, playing with it only ignites trouble in the future if the amount you put in is not reasonable.
