I keep seeing all the Amex Zinc approval threads and how some here think an Amex Zinc card is easiest to get. Nope! Per. Their credit analyst, they really have the same qualifiers other than income. Zinc isn't that great of a card because it cant be upgraded. Was told their Gold rewards card was just as easy to get as Zinc if your income can support the higher limits vs Zinc...(yes,of course they all have limits)

The reason I applied for the Zync card instead of Gold or Green is because of the annual fee. I don't really use my American Express much, but just wanted to get in with Amex and at the time I applied my credit score was in the mid 600's. I only use this card maybe once a month so to me it wasn't worth it to try to get Gold or Green considering I am barely going to use it and they come with a high annual fee.

The AMEX charge cards are definately easier to get than their revolvers ~ and certainly income is part of the approval process since they want to make sure they get the $450 from the Platinum cardmemebers.

A few people here have reported being able to upgrade from ZYNC but it seems to only be available when AMEX chooses to allow it, and it's not widely available.

Depends on your spending habits. For me, Zync is unquestionably the best card hands down out of any of their charge card products.

If I start travelling heavily again for work, then one of the others makes more sense. Also, Amex backdates so it's not like it's a huge hassle to open up another card if you need it in terms of a hit to your AAoA or other FICO issues besides the inquiry (to one credit report, oh noes!). Zync is a fine product if it fits your needs.

Yes, Revolvers are tougher...but charge cards are all the same credit wise. it's actually now illegal to upgrade to a card with an annual fee under new Banking regulations. so I doubt if anyone got upgraded unless it was an accident.

I have been sitting here, reading some of the comments here as well as on other forums on MyFico. Although I applauds those who hate to pay AF, I don't think these fees are that high. Easy math: Plat fee is 450 = $37.50 a month. Much less than a carton of cigarettes, or 4 trips a week to Starbuck. Now, if the card is not performing for you, well do canx it, or downgrade. I do have the Zync, and just applied for the green. After adding the amount for the AF, the Zync Packs, and 2 additional card members, I am better off going Green. The Plat will be in the future only because my wife and I love to travel. The Plat will be an additional tool for our travel, however, I am not going to try to push...a gazillion dollar, just to get pre-approve.

If we look at what we spend in our everyday life, these AFs' are not bad...If any, it is cheap...

The Plat Plat's AF is actually "lower" if you use all the benefits on a yearly basis WITHOUT the card, so it really does pay for itself, just with the lounge access alone and the $200 credit on travel.

It just depends on income and comfort with spending to be honest. There are those that, by far, would see the Zync as the better option, but there are others that will see the PR Gold as hands down the best... and then there's TannerK... I want his wallet.

Naw, I wouldn't want TannerK wallet or anybody for that matter. I again applauds those who achieve these cards "from the heaven above". However, if, and only if I was making $250k a year, would I remotely pursue the Cent. Card. He may sure and more than likely make well over that and some. The cards have to fit your lifestyle and be able to bring you a returns of investment (ROI). To spend $2500 a year for what I am hearing, is the same benefits for plat $450...then plat it is. As for those who hit the recent powerball, if I was their advisor, I would recommend them AMEX Plat, or CSP. The Cent card I believe should be reserved for those who can manage and maintain that lifestyle for years to come.
