Hi, first post.

I have requested a CLI on my Chase Freedom every month for quite awhile. It is my 'main' card and I've had it (or the predecessor, which I forget the name) for over 7 years.

Here's what my credit looks like:

BOA signature visa - NPSL, $6000 credit line

Discover $5500

Citi $4000

Capitalone $1500

Barclaycard $5000

Shell $750

Chevron $600

Elan financial $5000

Chase freedom $4700

Capitalone Journey $2000

Chase Amazon $500

Other accounts:

Paid off mortgage $75000

Student loans $55000

Paid off car loan $11000

Car loan in payment 13000 out of 20000

Collection account for $450

The collection account is wrong I've filed multiple disputes but they keep getting denied. I got hit by a car on my motorcycle and the hospital double charged me. There's so much paperwork I can't get it cleared, but the collection is simply not a real debt.

Back to Chase ... $4700 credit line. I put at least $500 a month through it for years. For example, I have over $1,000 in rewards on the card.

Today I called and told them I'm tired of the small credit line. CSR denied me in 20 seconds so I told her I wanted their retention department. I pointed out my almost perfect credit, the $1,000 in rewards banked up, my decent usage, etc.

Here's the part I don't believe: he said Chase won't approve ANY credit line increase with a collection account. I told him it was a wrong account and he said until I get it cleared my yearly income or usage won't matter. Is this true or just an excuse to get me off the phone? I feel a little betrayed given my history with them.

Oh, on the bright side I got approved for an AmEx Bluecash rewards everyday this week. I don't know the credit line/limit/whatever yet, but it might be my main card soon since Chase won't give me the big limit I crave.

Wrong. I apped for a CLI with an erroneous collection on my CR and was denied. A month later, after I had it deleted, I called in to recon because I didn't want to waste the INQ. I asked for a 150% increase and asked her to soft an updated report bc the collection was removed. She said she couldn't but that bc in the original HP the collection was disputed that she could ignore it. Came back a few minutes later and approved me. Btw this was for my Chase Amazon Visa.

Medical collections suck. I had 3 because the hospital forgot to bill my insurance. They're also a pain to correct good luck with getting it removed.

Thats rough, just a little advice you may want to transfer that 1,000 rewards to cash or statement credit or savings account the reason why is if Chase ever decides to cancel your card you may lose all your rewards

The collection is getting older now actually. According to my recent dispute it will go off my report in mid 2015. I don't even know who I would sue? The bills I got from the hospital were beyond confusing. It seems like more headache than it's worth. By the way, even with the collection account I qualified for a 0% APR car loan, I've gotten an AmEx, etc. Chase is the only one who seems to really care.

The part I find odd is that Chase gave me the $4700 limit right before I got the collection account. Since then though, I've paid off my mortgage, paid 20k out of 70k student loans, less than 5% utilization any given month on CCs, pretty decent account age I think which has only gotten older, more yearly income, etc.
