Chase Freedom - 10 and 10 Card!??

Hi everyone,

I just received my Chase Freedom card and when I called to activate I asked about the 10 points per swipe plus 10% point bonus for people with Chase Checking accounts (which I have). The lady informed me this is a "different" type of Chase Freedom card called the "10 and 10" and that mine is the regular card and that I will not get the bonus. She said I would have to reapply for the 10 and 10 card to get the bonus.

This sounds wrong to me.

Advice??

I would call back and ask a different rep. That sounds totally wrong. I didn't apply for a specific card and I get it.

I think thats the saphire that has actual points, I know my Freedom gets cash back 1% and up to 5% on bonus categories and an extra money since I have a checking account

I do get the extra 10% bonus on my cash back with Freedom + Checking but when you say points that thru me off

Back in the day when you went to the UR mall you could change weather or not you wanted your balance to be displayed as points or dollars. It's all the same thing.

Freedom and Sapphire use the same point system (Ultimate Rewards). Since points convert normally for statement credits or deposits or checks at 1:1, it's just like cash for freedom only cardholders. Remember sapphire preferred account holders can redeem at 25% bonus for flights booked through Chase's travel portal in the UR site, which makes it better than 1:1 for that, and for whatever special offer they happen to have at any given time on gift cards normally.

Chase 10/10 offer for checking will be added automatically to your account and back creditted within 2 statements of opening your card. This is what a Chase CSR told me when I got my freedom, and that is exactly how it happened.

I think there is a sweeper program that looks for it in the Chase systems and matches it up by SSN.

The 10 & 10 requires a chase checking account and the previous poster is correct. I have to reveal that I am a Chase employee.

I would talk to a different CSR regarding this.

I am not aware of different Freedom cards that does not qualify for 10pts per swipe + 10% divident.

Anything is possible with Chase, though.

I used to have a Chase Borders 3-2-1 (1-2-3??) VISA. When they dropped the card, they converted it to a Freedom, but I didn't have the 5% categories, just the 1% or whatever it was. It was something like 6 months of frequent calling before they finally grudgingly gave me the 5%.

I doubt that they have a separate 10/10 card, but they might have a little asterisk by your name or something.

I agree with the others, call back during regular business hours in Eastern time and try again.

I work there and I can assure you there are 2 different chase freedom cards, the regular and the 10&10. The 10 & 10 gives you more rewards and requires you have a chase checking account.

Ok so I had my Freedom for about a year before I opened my checking account with them. Do they just automatically add the feature when you open an account and see you are already in their system or something? The OP's problem is that they were telling him that he would have to reapply. I never had to reapply for mine to get that feature (I didn't realize I had it for a long time) although they did do a HP when I opened the account for some reason. I just assumed it was because I opted to allow overdraft and they pull credit before allowing you to do that (which I also wouldn't have done had I known it would result in a HP. Never overdrafted in my life and hope I never have to.)

Some accounts are eligible to be product traded up and some aren't. You'd have to call and have an agent check for you. If your acct isn't eligible for the product trade, either ask for a supervisor to see if anything else can be done because otherwise you would have to reapply.

They do automatically upgrade if you open a checking account later but it can take up to 3 statement cycles; they do automatically downgrade as well if you close your Chase Checking account.

Or are you saying that there are two different categories of Freedom cards?

Yes, in that the "10&10" Freedom is a different card and your account does need to be upgraded, but no, in that any Chase customer with both a checking account and a Freedom card should be automatically upgraded to the program within a few months anyway. The "10&10" card (which is no longer actually branded "10&10," "Exclusives," or similar, like it used to be) has a green edge on it that differentiates it from the vanilla Freedom... But that's it. I'm not aware that any of the various Freedom types (Signature, Platinum, World, etc.) are unqualified for this benefit, but I would defer to the guy who actually works there on that topic.

I just called in to Chase for CLI- a hard pull.

My Chase Freedom card now has a CL of.......5k.

No good bookstores anywhere in NY!

Yes, there are certain Freedom cards (different product id codes, bank lingo) that aren't eligible for the added 10&10 but a representative would pull up your account and explian why if that was the case.
