HELP! I have the app fever!!!

I'm thinking of freezing all 3 bureaus due to my recent app spree, it's so addicting! I recent paid down all my cc down to about 15% utl & that brought up my scores. Within the past 2 months I got the Chase Freedom (instant appr) Discover More (instant appr) Citi Plat (instant appr) Nordstrom store card (Recon) & now the banana republic store card. I am in the garden for sure, BUT sometimes I cannot help myself, I would fill out the online app all the way to the submit button & then close the screen I guess I have some self control!

How do I got about to freeze all of my reports?

Maybe we need an app support group because I am itching to app bad. I just went on an app spree so I need to knock it off if I ever want to get the CSP. I don't know if I will ever qualify because I don't know what income bracket I need to be in. This is part of my app itch, if I can't have the csp then I end up loooking for something that is good enough. The rewards are too tempting and I bet they get some people into a credit mess. For me its the rewards and spending about 10 years with bad credit that cause the itch. I pif each month now and have built my credit up so there is little worry I will end up in a mess.

You have some great cards there, congrats! Now though, if you really want a reminder why you don't want to succumb to the app itch\fever; remember your screen name "Getahead". If you keep apping, you'll have to consider changing it to "FellBehind". That's a lot of new accounts and INQ's, you don't want to add more at this point. Eventually you'll get denied or find yourself stuck long term in toy limit "L".

Try to think of the rewards this way: They aren't that significant really, just a small rebate (0.25 to 5% and a few little perks) on things you would normally buy (never buy anything just because of the rewards). That's only 5 CENTS back on the dollar, each dollar you spend and could end up paying interest on (that's part of their game btw, or hope). As far as discounts go, clipping coupons can seriously trump CC rewards (don't laugh, do the math).

Also, too many INQ's and new accounts can keep you from the lower interest rates, 0% BT offers and better CLs.

I doubt that alcohol and card apping go together very well. :-) We now have a small support CCA group. Was your alcohol induced app spree successful?

I try to look at it in the way you described, but it is a little difficult. I figured the game is to get me to pay interest (that must be why rewards cards have higher interest )so I work to keep interest payments at a minimum. Thank you for the advice.

Best way to cure an app itch is to think and realize what those new accounts and INQ's are going to do to your scores.

It's viral! Once you catch it, you just have to let it run its course.... The greatest success is achieved when you stay completely away from all apps and people apping, so you don't catch it in the first place. If you have a great resistance built up (from prime cards with high CL) it helps, but you can STILL succumb.
