Yes, they are really slow at posting charges and payments... sometimes I dont see my charges until two weeks later, or conveniently on the statement date... and the payment gets delayed by over one week... it is frustrating because I forget whether I've paid or not the next week that I am reconciling purchases.

So I filled up two cars with gas on 4/30 at a Walmart. I had one open charge for $69.51 that was not paid yet. They let me make a payment for the $69.51, but did not apply the payment before my statement closed on 5/2. Payment has been pending for days and has already cleared my bank. They would not let me pay the total for the pending 2 gas charges at all. Come statement date they post a balance for the 69.51 plus the gas. I am trying to pay them before the close date for a zero balance, but they won't take it. I find that frustrating.

Sorry to hear. When I want to get a CC report a zero balance, I normally wouldnt make a purchase on a CC at least 5 days before the statement closing date. It takes a good 2-3 days before the balance updates after you make payment. I think this time you were just cutting it pretty close.

I've had the same problem with my Walmart Discover. What I've been doing is restricting my use of the card to the first two weeks of the month, so they can't drag their feet and charge me interest (which we all know is precisely what they are doing.)

Next time you may want to push the payment from your bank rather than pull on the walmart side

Incendently I do not know why whenever I pay walmart it default the date to the due date and I actually have to click the current date to pay on that day and sometimes I forget

I don't know if this applies to your account\situation or not. If I want to be sure my Walmart Store will report a zero balance, I can go into the store the day before the statement cuts and overpay the account. I once had a 67 or something credit, but the statement cut with a zero balance, even though online it wasn't posted yet (if it doesn't work, I figure it's paid so eh lol).
