I didn't see a personal loan option on the forums relative to CC payoff, so if this is misplaced, could a Mod please move the thread?

I'm so happy right now I could kiss a pig...

I have many credit cards with balances...nothing Earth-shattering...a few thousand combined, but enough to be a drain on my finances and weigh my FICO score down.

3 Rivers FCU (Fort Wayne, IN) - with whom I already have savings and checking accounts and a low-interest VISA card - offers personal loans for many reasons...including debt consolidation.

I spoke with a rep at the CU...she was friendly and courteous, walking me through the application process from beginning to end. I completed the application over the phone in less than 3 minutes.

Less than 2 hours later, I see it on their website: APPROVED!

This personal loan will reduce my payments per month by over $250...allowing me to bank $3,000 yearly in savings at the credit union. It will also eliminate my CC utilization, which was WAY too high, thus allowing me to close the AF cards (Adios Cap1, Orchard and Credit One!). I expect that lowering my util to ideal range will significantly bump my FICO scores...which will be advantageous when we apply for a home loan later in the summer. The term of the PL is 48 months, but I expect to have it paid off well before that point.

Yet another reason why credit unions get a thumbs up from CreditCrusader...and in the case of 3 Rivers FCU in Fort Wayne, a DOUBLE thumbs up!
