Thanks for the replies. Normally, I wouldn't have given it a second thought... and didn't at the time that I clicked "I accept." Then afterwards, I remembered reading that seemed to be one of the instigators of FRs. I'm trying to stay under Amex's radar.

Amex reaction to new CCs?

I'm concerned that jumping on the upgrade from my ON store card to the ON Visa was a mistake. I was afraid that if I logged off, the offer would go away, so I jumped on it without thinking it through thoroughly.

I'm worried that someone, like Amex, is going to get antsy seeing 2 new CCs report this month. I just got Amex in Feb and I'm not sure how they're going to react seeing 2 new cards. My CR isn't going to say, "this ON visa replaces her store card, and we offered her an upgrade because of her good history with us." It will probably look like I went out and apped for it.

Does anyone know how Amex feels about new accts opening within a few months of getting their card? I'm not too concerned about Barclay's at this point, because this month is 6 mos.

All of my credit decisions over the last year have been thought-out and planned... until my Chase app last month, which was completely impulsive, mostly to jump on the cash-back offer. And jumping on the ON upgrade last night was also a spur of the moment decision. (My new rule is: no more impulsive decisions about credit!)

I'm wondering if I would be better off not activating it. I believe they will close my ON store card regardless, but I may be able to call and say that I don't want the Visa.

What do you think? I'd really appreciate some feedback from people who have experience w/Amex and getting new cards shortly after. (Got 2 Amex in Feb and Chase in April - but w/report this week, along w/ON Visa.)

Thanks!

Thanks. I've been doing the same as you w/Zync. I charge around $300 or so a month on it and under $300 a month on the Costco Amex. I just got my 61-day CLI on the Costco card, so hopefully it will be okay.

It's not like their risk increases. A lot of new accounts would send a red flag up for any company, though.

On 2/28 I apped and was approved for the Amex BCP with a limit of $4900, the next day I apped for the Chase Freedom and was approved for $7000, and also the Citi Forward for $7000 that same day. The Freedom and the Forward reported in the end of March to the CRs. The Amex didn't report until the 2nd billing cycle, so it was the 3rd to report. The Freedom reported with a balance of $2916 and the Forward reported with a balance of $4800. My first month I ran $2100 through the Amex and PIF, the 2nd statement balance was $1200, which is the one that was reported. Yesterday, as I was just passed the 61 day mark, I applied for and was approved for a 3X CLI on the Amex bringing my CL to $14,700. So... in short, I would say as long as you have a good track record with Amex then they don't care at all. YMMV of course.

The only company that has given me flack about my OTHER credit cards has been Chase....and Chase has been a thorn in my side since I got involved with them. Both with my credit cards from them and our checking accounts with the bank.

If I knew then what I know now I'd never have opened a single account of any sort with Chase. Theyre as bad as the old National City Banks that used to be around here.

At this point, however, all our direct deposits go into chase and I dont want to start messing with that again.

No details. I called the number on the card and went thru the automated system like someone here had suggested. I couldn't find any links on the website to CLI.

I'm still afraid to put very much on the card, so the CLI doesn't really do much except help my overall util when it reports. I really debated whether or not I should even do it, but figured it wouldn't hurt to try.

(They only gave me $3 because my highest CL was $2500.) Amex gave me $6k. So, the $2k hump is behind me. But most of the CCs I have require HPs for CLIs, so I'm hoping for some auto-CLIs at some point -- like 6 or 12 mo anniversaries.
