I called a couple of months ago on my Green. I explained that I wanted to use them as my primary card and was in the process of transitioning more of my spending from my Visa and M/C over to them. Since I didn't want to get embarrassed with a decline at the register or while picking up the check at dinner, I asked them if they could tell me my internal limit, which they did. I was very happy with the result.

As others have mentioned, your Zync will grow with you with usage and good payment history. If you are concerened about where your limit is, call and ask. The CSR was very friendly about it.

Has anyone gotten any success being able to find out your internal limit on a Zync card? I have NPSL and from what the rep told me they go by spending patterns and they do not have a specific number to give me. Thats kinda confusing, the last thing I want to do is have declined purchase or FR. Im trying to move all my purchases to AMEX/Discover and want to do this the right way. Thanks!

Try using the "check spending button" ? Don't go too crazy with it, but it is there for a reason. The benefit of charge cards is that you never have to ask for a cli and as long as you are moking your monthly payments your internal limit will grow quickly. Each transaction is approved/denied on a case-by-case basis, but the spending limit button will give you a pretty good idea of what your current limit is.

I tend to stay away from that button. If they cant give me a number on it im gonna spend $200 more each month and build a pattern with them. I would be pretty upset/embarrased my card gets declined.

I really wouldn't be afraid of using that button, just do not go crazy with it. Pick a number, say 5,000.00 and see if that gets approved. If yes, put in a slightly higher number, if no go lower and try it. Just by doing that and using the button twice you will have a good idea of where you stand. They made that button for you to use it to help you know what your limit is. Just don't use it 10 X a day

After a few months of solid history amex will cut you more slack and you shouldn't have any problems getting all the spending power you need. Obviously don't go wild one month, but you should be all good

I had my Zync for only a few months and I was able to get approved on the check your spending ability for 5000. Last month I check it approved 10500. That got me interested in what my internal limit really was. At this point I was just curious as I didn't have to worry about getting declined anyway. I called and the very nice rep stated that my limit is 20000. Wow. I love AMEX. I agree. I use the spending limit button without any issues. I use it once a month to see how much I increase from the last. Or you could just call since checking the spending limit doesn't always get as high as you really might be.

My first Zync purchase was airline tickets from US to Israel $1200. It was approved without an issue. I have never been declined making purchses up to $4k, of course always PIf at months end.

Out of curiousity a few days ago I used the button to check if I would be approved on $10k, and it was approved. Not sure what my ceiling is, but it seems to be higher than I would ever need! I do use the card monthly, with an avg of $1k - $2k. Had it since 2010
