Chase Freedom Visa

Thanks to everyone here on the great info given. I was wondering what shot I have of getting approved for the Chase Freedom Visa $100 cash back card. Oldest account is 1yr 1mnth and AAoA is 9 months. Just got the Amex Gold about a month ago. All reports are clean as a whistle. I feel I may be approved but with a minimal CL. Any ideas?

It might be tough given your "thin" credit profile and young accounts, but it's worth a shot if you don't have many other INQs right now.

I don't remember if you were required to have 1 or 2 years of credit history before Chase will accept you. I would call the backdoor number and ask one of the representatives there before applying. I wouldn't just burn an inquiry.

I've read where Chase likes to see around two years. Calling and asking may help but it tends to be someone in underwring that clues folks in so it's hard to say if a regular CSR would be truly helpful in this area.

I think your chances for approval are good. I think you will get low credit lines to start though. Chase only hands out good starting credit lines to those with high AAOA, low to no inquiries, and low ULT. I got approved for Chase with a file with only 6 months of history.

Most people have posted here that Chase like to see around a couple of years of history. They are a little stricter on approvals. With just over a year as your longest acct., and 9 mos AAoA, I'm not sure you'd be approved. Also, your Amex probably isn't reporting yet, which may or may not be a good thing. Once it reports, your AAoA is going to be lower and your FICO may take a hit. IMO, I'd wait at least 6 mos w/Amex and then app for Chase.

You probably have a good chance of being approved considering you have an Amex gold. I was approved for a Freedom and i only have 8 months of credit history but with a low CL. Good luck.

Hmm a lot of mix opinions. I'm kinda on the fence myself, but if I had to guess I would say you would be approved with a small limit to start out. At 6 months of good history, they would probably treat you well. If you don't have too many inqs I'd say go for it. What's the most that can happen, a decline? Oh well we all have to start somewhere.

I got the Freedom last month (with 6k CL) and my credit profile is kind of similar to yours. My credit score is in the low 700's; oldest account is 1 year 6 months and AAoA is 10 months. But I have more credit cards than you (5 bank cards and 2 store cards) when I applied for the Freedom.

I want to thank everyone for their advice. I'm pretty conservative when it comes to credit so I've weighed all the options and will be gardening for the next 6 months or so.

I was approved with only one year of credit history with my Capital One Secured card, and only two inquiries at the time. Chase was my first prime card! I think you have a good chance. Good luck!

my eq score is 701 as of today, inqs were 35 lol,now its 36 inqs

was denied 9 months ago,that was my last inq,

old navy visa $4000.00 was upgraded

jc penny $3000.00

cap one $500

capone 750

walmart $2400.00

chevron $1600.00

dillards $1600.00

macys $1000.00 never use it that much any more

I would dump the Cap1 cards when the AF come due. Keep the library cards though!
