hi .i use to pre approved for cap 1 cash back green card but last for couple months i dont .i dont know what happened.since cap 1 buying hsbc it hasnt been .any idea?

Hi, murat. Just to make sure we understand correctly what your question is, are you asking if anyone knows why pre-approvals for the Cap1 Cash Back Green card no longer show up for you on their website?

Has your credit changed some lately, for example, higher utilization?

As near as I can tell the Cap 1 pre qual site checks their database for pre-approvals from a previous PRM pull - It the pre-approval seems to expire at some point and may well come back at the next soft pull.

That seems to be the case for DW - she has the same Cap 1 pre-approvals come and go and they seem to correlate very nicely with recent PRM soft pulls on her report

I think the pre approval expires as soon as you check to see if you are pre approved for anything

That is not the case for DW at least - Of course YMMV, but her pre-approvals stay for quite a while (months?) even if we check them numerous times.

I've found that the CapOne pre-approval system generates preapprovals and sometimes it doesn't. I haven't been able to figure out why, but I do know that those preapprovals can still come back denied.

I've been a Capone customer for years; soon to be ex customer, and one day the approvals come back with nothing, while other days it comes back with approvals.

Like everything in the credit world YMMV (your mileage may vary)

Try the Discover site for pre-approvals. If you app with them, it's only one inquiry versus the three that Cap One will cost you.

I dont believe they SP immediately when you check it, its based off of prior PRM SP's. They may not like what they seen the last pull.

I recently applied for and was approved for a Cap1 Spark but I haven't had any prequalfied offers from them at that site in many months. For me, I think it's because I have a weird Cap1 account that has two charge-offs on it. The recent Dec charge off is wrong. The correct one is 6 years old. I disputed it and had it removed from my reports but it's still in Cap 1's database. I think that might be MY problem at the site. Beyond that, as a poster has already stated, it could also be based on their last promotional soft pulls. Or it could also be that their system automatically turns up with no offers if it detects the presence of any number of particular marks in the report like recent credit inquiry or credit approval or certainly a recent derogatory. It's hard to say.

My wife got pre-qualified offers from them until about Feb. Around that time, she applied for and got a Venture. Several months before, we did a refi on thew house and in the months after she applied for and received credit for other reasons. If I put in her SS number, there are no offers right now. If I put in my brother's SS, he gets offers and he did a house and motorcycle refi even more recently. You just never know....

And these last two people I mentioned have excellent credit. That site is a good indicator but not iron-clad.

My friend was one of the people that designed their pre-approval section of the site

He said if it comes back as "pre-qualified" for cetain cards, its a 70% of approval. If it comes back as "pre-approved" for certain cards, its 90% approval. So maybe this could be used as a guideline, unless they changed it since he designed it.
