Don't feel so bad. My CLI request was also not approved. I currently have an AmEx BCE at 15k, opened Feb 2012. You win some, you lose some.

Your BOA AMEX had a credit limit increase. That is why your Blue got denied. Only one credit limit per individual (not card) every 6 months. You still gonna close?

Seriously, you're getting that upset over a denied credit limit increase request? Just wait 90 days, I think it is, and try again. How long have you had the card? When was your last credit limit increase request with Amex?

Kendro OP's BÓA Amex and Amex Blue are issued by 2 different banks so one has nothing to with the other. And OP I agree with Koop10010, don't close, give it time.

Maybe they thought you had enough available credit already ?? I wouldn't close it since there is no AF. And given how some creditors ( BofA comes to mind ) are prone to slash CLs you might want to keep it.....

If you got a CLI in the last six months they will auto decline another CLI until six months has lapsed. Amex likes to see usage. If you don't use what you have why would they give your more? Got to look at from the other side too. It's a great card with some of the best rewards in the industry. I would knee jerk close it but that's your call. I love mine and will not be closing it.

No you shouldn't close your card IF THAT'S NOT WHAT YOU CHOOSE TO DO. As I mentioned my goal was to have 3 major cards EITHER WAY and Amex denial just added Amex to the close list.

I am entitled to make decisions on wether to keep a card or not. My excellent credit gives me that option. This board is full of unnecessary remarks I see as well.

Well, that is the nature of message boards. You're not always going to have a cheering section at every game

Of course the decision is yours. I just wouldn't cut off my nose to spite my face if I were you. You may wish you had that card someday and would regret closing it in a huff over something this trivial is all some of us are saying.
