Getting a Chase card with judgement on credit report

Any recent experiences getting approved for Chase credit cards like Sapphire Preferred, the JP Morgan Select card and above with a paid judgement still on their credit reports? I'd appreciate any input.

We were able to get several prime credit cards just today with a 3-1/2 year old REPO on all three credit reports. Of course, the repo was fully paid 3-1/2 years ago. It is the only baddie on the reports. The rest of the reports show excellent payment history on 3 credit cards that are less than a year old. We were shocked and amazed and have been rejoicing all day long!

However, with credit, it is definitely a YMMV (your mileage may vary) type thing.

If your scores and income are acceptable then it's certainly possible. It is a YMMV thing based on a bunch of factors: your current FICO score, how old the judgement is, what the rest of your history looks like, whether you have a relationship with Chase already, etc. ad naseum. End of the day you did pay the judgement, which is in all ways better than an unsatisified one: regardless of how FICO scores it, it is a definite plus from an underwriting perspective.

I will point out though, that while Discernment absolutely had a fantastic approval spree today, there are prime cards, and then there are prime cards... or above-prime I suppose they can be termed. The CSP / JPM Select cards (virtually identical for underwriting AFAIK) are definitely in that second category and are non-trivial approvals. Chase anecdotally is known to be pretty picky, but I don't think this forum population is necessarily a good barometer for such things in general.

If you want the card, and the rest of your credit profile is solid and would warrant an approval, I'd go for it personally. If you just want a Chase card of any sort, the Freedom is traditionally an easier approval decision, as is the Slate for most people.

discernment I really appreciate you sharing your experience and congragulations on all the approvals. Was your Chase Freedom approval instant? What credit line did they give you if you don't mind me asking?

It was instant approval but, we had to call in to find out the CL which turned out to be $5,000.

Discernment did you get five cards in one day? If so great did the other lenders notice each others inquires? Were there any concerns? Would you mind telling me your credit profile lates baddies AAoA amounts on secured cards how long you have had them plz?

Sorry annielorie, I am just now seeing this today! We did get 5 cards on June 1st. I don't believe the lenders noticed each other's inquiries because we are STILL getting notifications from our CMS of some of the inquiries -- some of them have been pretty slow to report. No concerns or AA from anyone, thank God! Credit profile shows only excellent history except for the 3-1/2 year old repo but, as I earlier stated, the 3-1/2 year old repo was paid off 3-1/2 years ago. SO, although FICO scores no differently regardless if the repo is paid off, when lenders look at the CRs, they see excellent history and a paid off repo, to them we look responsible and not much of a risk.
