Barclays Apple VISA Approved on Recon w/ 628 TU

When everyone with the exception of Capital1, First Premier and secured cards denied me this is the only card that approved me. I was initially denied online but heard through this board about the successful recons so I gave it a shot. The analyst asked me to verify my employment and income by just restating what I stated on the application and he asked me to explain the CO's on my credit report (said it was from irresponsibility while at college) and asked me how much I wanted for a CL. I said $750 to be conservative and he put me on hold for a few moments. He came back and said we can see you've had a Capital One card in good standing for over a year so we are going to go ahead and approve you for the $750 CL!

This is the first non-subprime card I've been able to get. I have a 628 TU/ 655 FAKO and a 600 EQ with 6 CO's! Granted they were all from 2007-2008 - but still! This is exciting.

I just wanted to share in case any of you guys have a just-over-600 score and can't get approved for prime cards yet.

Nice! It does appear that one year history on a tradeline appears to be a deal maker as I think DaveS and others suggested.

2NE1 - Cap1 is stuck at $500 (credit steps) - I've PIF every month for 14 months. I feel like I should've asked for more too, but I didn't want to push my luck. My credit puts me in a position where I am dealing from weakness, not strength.

CS800 - That's what I'm hoping because I know Cap1 and First Premier are cards that you'll generally outgrow.

Funny thing is I have a CreditOne card with a $300 limit coming in the mail that I can't wait to call up and tell them to take their fees and shove it.

I have cards with CL over 20K and my oldest card my super Cap One Platinum with perfect payment record is still at a whooping $1100. Every attempt for CLI have been unsuccessful. Top that ,it has a $39 AF. I feel priviledge. I just need to let it go but it's so hard . It was my first ..ok i will stop now

I think you have also outgrown the FP card. I would hold on to the Cap1 card a while longer though. Cred 1 is horrible for their fees. I had that card like 6 years ago and when they tried to jump their fees 50% I did not hesitate to tell them bye bye.

psychoinhell - the thing about CreditOne is NO GRACE PERIOD meaning you buy something and you are charged interest immediately. If I pay my balance in full before the due date I don't want to pay for anything but the AF. No exceptions. Cards without grace periods should be banned.

CreditResuscitation - the financing - but I probably won't use it, I just heard that the Apple one was the easiest to get which is all I cared about. Although the new Macbook Air looks pretty cool - it's what got me into trouble the first time around

They pull TU so if that 629 score in your sig is accurate and you can say you make $80k+ like I did then there's no reason you shouldn't get approved.

I am honestly not sure what the policy was back when I had Credit 1. I only know what made me dump it was that monthly fee increase going up 50%.

@Jlu, did the recon and they denied me. Commended me on my credit building but said I had too many inquries to be approved. He said to lay off for a couple of months and I'll be fine. I don't fell too bad about it. I'll get it eventually. Oh well, off to the garden I go.
