Well my May app spree caught up with me. Got a letter from Barclay stating they are reducing my 3K credit card limit to 2K. Reasons being, too many new account openings (4 including them) and balance increased too quickly (I transferred a 1K balance to the Barclay and bought a $260 plane ticket).

Very Wierd! I just received a auto CLI from Barclay's after opening 4 accounts within 6 months! I also BT to the card, and right now my balance on 1 of my new cards is 90% of the CL, Also your TU Fico is way higher than mine... <STRIKE>What card do you have?</STRIKE> How long have you had the card? Did you call the recon number recently?

Edit: read your siggy

I think I am going to close my account with them. I have a $3k CL and I will call them and ask them to move it to $5k. If they do, I will keep it open. If not, I will close it. Their interest rates are high and their rewards (iTunes Visa) are not very good...

OP - sorry this has happened. I would call them (backdoor) and argue my case.

Agreed - I will ask them first. They may be able to soft it for me.

2. I have called and argued with them twice now and that has not been a problem for me. They have always been quite nice to work with. I call and ask them to reduce the interest rate. Have not had luck with that yet...

Most likely, I will just close it as I am now in "pruning" mode. US Bank Cash + (I think we are going to be approved - Bill pay and other rrotating cats.

4. Target Visa - Target.

5. Amex BCE - small bills like NetFlix just to keep using it.

6. USAA World MC - everything else.

7. Nordstrom Siggy Visa - Clothing.

Even 7 is more thatn I want to manage ---------

Nice collection Ray. Your CL's are impressive.

How long have you had these cards?

PenFed still hates me.
I'm hoping to get my BCE to $25K in September.

Let's see-

USAA since they opened the bank - do not remember the year. Most likely late 80's.

PenFed - 1 year

Southwest Rewards - new

Target Visa - 2010

Amex BXE - 1 year

US Bank - hoping for approval Thursday - talked with backdoor this morning and was told everything looks excellent and it is in the final stages of approval now.

Nordstroms - April of this year.

The cards are of course fun but can be a pain to manage and make sure each one gets some action every now and then. And then you have the rewards game to play too.

I am thinking the US Bank card will pay monthly bills. I have calculated that we can make $105 cash back per month by doing what Discover does today. Then we need two more Southwest tickets so I need to work that card too. A pain but worth it. I manage all of these cards in my budget so no worries about over spend. I also used to pay weekly but if approved for US Bank, I am calling it quits on the next stuff and I will just pay statement due date. I will let that money sit in USAA checking and earn a small amount of interest.

When USAA reports (it just got paid off), we should be aound 805 on all three so we will be sitting right where we want to be.
