I need an AMEX for dummies lesson. I know it's alot of info to ask but maybe someone with the knowledge is eager to inform. I looked at the AMEX site but I don't think all their cards or benefits etc are listed there.

Are they always charge cards as opposed to credit cards?

Are there spending limits different for each card?

How many differnet cards are there and difficulty and benefits of obtaining each?

Amex offers both charge and credit cards. I have been hearing that charge cards are the easiest because they are due in full each month. They have many different types of cards. I would figure out what your needs are and then go through the card information site and figure out which card fits those needs.

Are there spending limits different for each card? Yes, it varies by card and card type
How many differnet cards are there and difficulty and benefits of obtaining each? too many to list, but the AmEx website will show them; it is said charge cards, Zync in particular, are easier to get than revolving/credit cards

I believe that all the cards come with the return/theft/accidental damage protections, extended manufacturer warranties, and rental car insurance.

Anything else is card-specific I believe.
