I can speak from experience on the Best Buy MC and the Capital One rewards cards. I was able to obtain a 300 CL on the BB and 500 on the CO Rewards card with a credit score of 580. My brothers fiance also just got a Capital One rewards card and it was her first credit card ever and I believe she was in the 550 range

I agree that.cash rewards should be your next target as they will be more likely to give a decent starting limit. That should happen in 6 months. After that I would garden for another 6 months before trying to pick up chase freedom. Also; you could get the regular wal mart card at the same time as nfcu cash card; and it may be upgraded later on; or you could just go straight for it at the same time as cash rewards. Cap one card is not really going to be a good card to keep long term because they give crappy limits and have poor customer service. Just my opinion.

Jordan - I was approved for the NFCU cash rewards card with a 550's eq score and gross income around 40k. I recently received my Flagship with a score of 685, you need to build up to this card (most sites show a 720+ needed for signature). What exactly is holding your credit down? Utilization?

Collections and late payments are holding me down. I just got another collection removed today, (I started with more than 10 in March), once it goes from my reports I'll be left with 2 on EQ (FP CO/Collection and a returned check), 3 on TU (2 medical & FP) and 2 on EX (returned check & FP). 1 late payment to Nelnet (they won't budge) and rest on Walmart card from last year (They only agreed to remove 1). No reporting open revolving credit until NFCU and Cap1 report.

Jordan, good work on rebuilding. You'll see a nice increase once those revolving accounts start to report! Keep up the good work, and remember that petience is key. Nothing heals your score better than on time payments for the next 7 yrs

I'd like to apply for TrueEarnings Card from Costco and American Express or their American Express Blue Cash Preferred/Everyday - Does anyone know what my scores need to be? No bankruptcies. Highest Credit just approved last week is the Amazon.com Store Card Limit 1,700. The rest of my cards are all under 1,000. Currently carry: Discover 500, Capital One Rewards 750, Cap One 500, Orchard Bank 500, and a few store cards: Banana Republic, VS Angels, Ann Taylor LOFT & Express. My current FICO Score is 683 EQ & EX 701 TU

If you are interested in acheiving a relationship with amex; you should apply for amex zync today and start using it and paying it off completely each month. Where did you get your scores from? If you get approved for zync; it will help you later on because all new amex accounts you open in the future will show as opened since 2012; even if you get BCP in 2013. Rule of thumb is to apply for their charge card first and then apply.for.their regular credit cards after.you've been with them for a year
