Chase CC Payment Return...what's next ??

Hello,

All the worst thing possible for me happened today...I checked my credit account and my recent payment was returned. I have a practice of going to the branch and making a payment in person, my card was due on the 4th and since the holiday came the bank was closed. I am legally blind and hate making payments online, for this reason. I have entered one digit wrong for the bank account number when making the payment. And for this reason the payment was returned to the bank. This payment happened on my chase ink account with a 5k limit( account is only 3 months old) I also have a slate that I got back in nov and never had a problem with that. I have a history of making payments directly at the branch. My question is do you think there will be adverse action taken on my account ?? Or a cl decrease ?? Or a problem later when asking for an increase on the account ( I was going to ask for an increase at the 6 month mark) ... Im really worried as this is the first time something like this has happened to me...

Chase CS is pretty good. I'd just call them and pay by phone.

I had originally made the payment on the 4th for the the statement balance of 4988.00, but called in 1 hour ago and just make a payment again for 5,000.

This happened to me on my Chase Amazon account, their computer system closed the account. I called Customer Service to see why they closed the account, it was because of this returned payment. I was able to talk to customer service and explain that I was one digit wrong on entering the payment account info. They re-opened the account with no issues or further adverse action.

Their computer may flag your account for review. I don't know if it will happen to you, but it did happen to me. I agree with FrugalRican, you should call them as soon as possible

I called them 3 times already today...

8 am to see what happened. ( made a payment for 5k)

10am to make sure everything was ok and account was notated that payment was made on due date but one digit was off on the account number

12pm was told payment will take 2 days to post to account. Will show up on next statement, account will report balance of 7.5k on a 5k limit this statement, since it ends today. They took off the late charge, and if any interest that may be put on. I asked if intro apr will be lost, they said maybe....

I honestly don't care about that since I PIF, I just don't want to get a CLD I will really be disappointed for this. I'm so mad at myself already for this stupid mistake. And did I just kill my chance of ever getting a CLI on my personal & business cards...

I had my slate for over 8 months now and was going to call the exec office at the end of the month to ask for an increase..do u think this will affect that ??

I think you should wait until you've had these accounts for one (1) full year before you ask for a credit limit increase and, especially now with this snafu. I think you need to let the dust settle before you ask for anything further.

Do you really think they will hold it against me...I mean this was totally done by error and not intentional at all. I am not using my disability(blind) as a justification for the error in mistypying the wrong bank account number. I told them I am really sorry, and to take a payment for 5,000 today even though the last payment was for $4900.00. Also I have paid chase over 40k this year alone for all my cc. I PIF every statement, and pay my personal card off before the statement even cuts. I also like chase so much that I am moving my entire business banking over to them. But I really hope that I didn't just ruin my relationship with them. I was looking to really build these lines.

Who knows. Remember computers do most of the work and I have seen with other lenders that a failed payment causes fraud flags to be triggered that make the account more sensitive in the future for some time. I am sure if that is true for Chase that under human review, you will be fine.

We could give you 100 opinions and that's all they would be... opinions.

All you can do is wait right now and let them make their next move. Hopefully, they won't make a move. Like you said, losing the APR isn't a problem, you PIF.

At least you were self-aware of the mistake and corrected it immediately. Other than that, anything else is just conjecture. We could tell you a 10 different scenarios and they'd apply Scenario #11 with you.

Just be patient, let time take care of the situation and then see what happens next.

I'd just be happy with the fact that you caught the problem this quickly.

Here's my situation, my personal chase is a slate which is sitting at 3K limit. I was planning on calling the exec office at the end of the month and ask for a CLI. Income is at 80K. Only one personal with chase at 3k. I have read many examples of people calling the exec office and getting high CLI. I was really hoping for around 9-10k(highest limit I already Have) charged almost 27k on the card so far always PIF.

You cant imagine I was calling BOA of 4 times a day in the past week inquiring the balance just to see why hasnt the payment come in yet...lol I am really paranoid when it comes to credit.

I would probably wait till next month, but up to you. Since Chase Executive office call is reputed to be only a soft pull, I guess no harm trying now either.

I'm waiting because I currently have two large balances reporting which should be zero. Current Utl is at 15%. Bringing it down to 1%. And owe about 6K to chase which I charged last week. So wanting to wait until the end of the month,so balance will be zero. Score will be around 720. Utl, 1%.

I am also going to pay the additional 3K I owe on the ink card before I ask. I mean they will see that for the past few months in just a few days apart I pay them 8k. Since my due date for the ink is the 4th and my chase cut off is the 2nd so I pay on the first every month. So this will show them also that handling 8k is not a problem.

And they will also see that I charge over 3k on my Amex gold every month and that's a charge card that must be paid.. I know I am a paranoid 22 year old..lol
