Mini app spree success!

I was holding off on applying for any new credit since we were going to be buying a new property this fall, but we are now waiting until next spring/summer to start new build construction home. So....I felt the long awaited urge to seek a couple new cards after receiving auto CLIs a few wks ago.

Results of App Spree***

1. Discover More Instant Approval on-line, $2k (had received preapproval in mail) - pulled TU = 721 (mortg. pull 7/9) (711 Walmart FICO 7/6) - thought limit was kinda low (CSR said I can request CLI after 6 mos)

2. Home Depot Instant Approval @ store $4k (had received preapproval in mail) - pulled EQ = 638 (SW 7/19)

3. NFCU cash rewards original limit $3k - had card since 4/23, called to ask for increase*****approved for $10k pulled EQ = 638 (SW 7/19)

Nice Congrats! I think discover usually does either a SP or HP of one of the other bureaus which may be why they gave you a lower limit. Congrats on nfcu!

Thank you guys, it feels good for a change to be approved for amts that you truly can use your cc like a debit card daily and receive "rewards" for it (mainly talking abt NFCU card). Also, I must note that I recently changed my direct deposit to NFCU - not sure if that matters, I have heard others on this forum say it helps....so for me, I think it may have helped. YMMV though!

you only had the nfcu card for roughly 3 mos then asked for an increase? very nice congrats

@Anonymous, I was feeling quite bold with that move...LOL...I had called earlier in the week but chickened out when CSR told me that they like to see at least 6 mos of activity/pymt history prior to requesting a CLI so I said, OK, I'll wait. Then yesterday, I said what the hell, I'll apply for a 2nd NFCU card - go rewards or something and the CSR again advised me that they like to see you wait for 6 mos. I told her I wanted to run all of my monthly bills thru my card instead of using my debit card and the limit of $3k simply wasn't high enough so that's why I wanted a 2nd card, she said well why don't you apply for an increase (if you qualify for a 2nd card they can just give you the amt as a CLI on the first card - ok whatever). She took my info, when asked what amt I wanted for increase, I told her $12k (hahaha) then she said system gave her 7-10 day msg, and that I should hear something by then. I said ok, not really expecting it to even go thru especially @ $12k and a weaker EQ & EX score. Then bam...last night before bed, I checked my acct balances and my cash rewards card limit had jumped from $3 to $10k! I never received a text msg, secure msg, nothing - but I did receive the alert on my EQ report from SW (funny).

So there you have it and I am ecstatic - definitely my highest credit line to date. I think I am going to garden my cards for at least 6 mos. now. I know I am going to take a hit on my score with the inqs and reporting of 2 new cards, but it'll rebound within a few mos.

My success continues...

Accepted Old Navy VISA upgrade of $2k - was a SP, already had the auto pre-approval offer for upgrade. No HP, but I lose my open 2yr (perfect payment) history. That's ok, I'll take a VISA brand card over a store card anyday, and my oldest acct is 30+yrs old, AAoA 10+.

webhopper....I'm LOL....my parents added me as an AU in my teens to their AMEX & Chase cards, so hence the long history...after my recent app spree, I'm sure AAoA will drop a few years. I also have many years of acquiring student loans (thanks to my Masters Degree ) but I am officially finished with new accts.I'll be chilling in gardenville now!
