BCP: success and a question

I was approved for a Delta Skymiles Amex exactly one week ago.I foolishly applied for the BCP on the same day and got the "wait 7-10 days message". Last night I checked the approval site and saw that my app was approved,and this morning I was told that my CL was $14.5k, my highest limit yet! (Yes I am in the garden now for a loooong time).

I am assuming that Amex matches or tries to surpass your highest CL (for me this is two cards at 10.9k), is that the case?

It varies, for me Amex gave me $6,000 when my highest limit was $750. Of course, I had a charge card for almost two years first, which I put all my spending through. Others have gotten $1-2,000 when they've had much higher limits, of course they can always try for the 3x CLI after 61 days, so it's not that big of an issue. Even if they don't get the high limit right away, there's the potential for rapid growth.

They didn't match for me.

When I got my Amex Blue, my highest CL was $12,000 and Amex gave me $2,000.

But congrats anyway! Delta Gold and BCP are both excellent cards.

Congrats! 2 new Amex... great! BCP has really nice rewards, too. And awesome CL.

When I got my Amex Costco in Feb, they did not surpass my highest CL (which was around $2500 at the time). They gave me $2k. But 61 days later, I got a CLI to $6k, which exceeded my highest CL at the time of $2500.

Not in my case. Amex gave me a CL half as big as my largest reporting CL. It was my first Amex card, and a revolver at that.
