Sam's Club Discover approval

I go to sams club a few times a week and thought I would give it a shot for the sams credit card. I spend 150.00 a week there every week. Anyways, I applied online and it submitted for the sams discover by default and I got the 7-10 day message so I called. They approved me for the Sams Discover for 1800.00. It blew me away because that is my highest limit. So I have a few questions....is this a good card to have? Now I read online a bunch of people complaing about it. Also, its backed by ge right? So is it a real discover card? Will it affect my discover more card? Why would they give me such a higher limit? I'm glad but surprised. I assumed if anything, I would have gotten the store card for 600.00

The only diff is that it is backed by GECRB not DFS. Shouldn't affect your "real" Discover.

Also, you can get pretty frequent CLIs if handled correcty. Just charge your purchases and try to pif.
I have the Walmart Discover with a $5,000 limit, and I love it.

They have a lot of 0% offers for min purchases (like $499 @0% for 18 mos sometimes).
Also, I think you get 15 cents off a gallon of gas thru December.

Cashback is quite dismal however. Offers on your "real" Discover will be better typically.

Yes, it is backed by GE and can grow very nicely. They probably gave you the higher limit than Discover More to entice you to use their card more. It is a GE backed card that uses the Discover network for charging.

I saw the 0% interest and that is why I wanted the card too....sams has great deals on electronics which both of my kids are after for Christmas. I do wonder why the walmart discover denied me and gave me only the store card last month.

Congrats! I wanted to apply for it but was afraid to be denied, so I just went with the store card and got approved.

Not sure why wally gave you just the store card. Now that sams gave you the Discover you might see an early upgrade from wally.

Well.... I think people who shop at Sam's typically spend more... Maybe that's why...or maybe you credit shot up in that time frame...

I dunno why I assumed the Walmart card would work in Sam's club and vice versa...It's the same company. Pretty weird you apped there and got the Discover but when you applied to Walmart, they only gave you the store card...

Congratulations Snowkitty, I received a prequalified offer for "the new" Sam's Club Discover from GECRB. It says in the area below how we calculate your balance "If approved, your account will have an initial credit line of no less than $2,000.00." But I did not receive a 0% offer mine states 22.90% which will vary based on the prime rate. Sould I take the hp and apply for this card?

I'd do it... They grow with you like no other!! Plus the backdoor for cli number is easy to fine.

Now if you have high util and more than5-10 inqs in two years, I'd be careful!

Clearly your score is ideal... When I worked at JCP, the highest initial CL was $2000. Jcp is backed by GECRB, which I would deem to operate similarly to Sam's Club since it's the same bank....

I'm going to give it a shot, two of my cards are at 0% utilization and my discover is under 10% as far as my inquiries I'm not sure. If I had to guess I'd say I'm between 5 and 10 over the last two years but they are spread out between the 3 bureaus. Does anyone know who GECRB pulls for this card?

I believe they pull TU.

One last question, does this card report to all 3 bureaus? I would prefer to avoid cards that don't.

Thanks!! I did not get a 0% interest on the card itself like I did with my real discover. It is only on certain purchases that I saw on the website. I just checked and they pulled my TU.
