Walmart and Discover card

hello all,

I've had my walmart card for over a year now(13 months) and last month i was given an auto cli of $1000(from $900), so my cl is now $1900! i love it! my question is when do you all think i might get the offer to upgrade to discover? are there any trends i should look our for? is there any specific time frame i should expect an upgrade? i have used the walmart card heavy and sometimes PIF and sometimes just the minimum payment. Right is the UTI is at about 20%.

From the threads I have read on here it takes atleast 24 months if not longer.

It took me about two and a half years to get the upgrade to WM Discover, but I started from really low scores. They seem to send out the upgrades around the holidays every year.

congrats on your increase! I have had my walmart card since october 2009 and recieved a letter for the walmart discover upgrade last month. Yes 3 years for my upgrade but ymmv.

From what I have seen its based on time and credit score.

The higher you can get your credit score the faster you will be approved.

Most people that get offered the WM are generally those that can qualify for a regular Discover. Are you signed up for the free credit score? If not do so. As for the time, on average it seems like @ 24 mos. or so. I was offered mine after a little over a year but I qualified for the WM but opted for the store version. Some people never seem to get offered. It seems like high use and a good score are what gets you noticed...

Got the upgrade offer after 20 months, nearly two years. My TU fico hit 704 before right before they upgraded it

hope so.

even though the card will be around 5 months. my walmart fico has never been below 720. and my fico's here are high 690's borderline low 700's

i was shocked when i only got the store card but it started me at 800. now it at 3k with a cli(that i asked for) last month.

im not too worried about getting discover soon since i have my chase freedom and my bank card. and this jan will be apping for costco true earnings. if i get that ill have more then enough credit to work with until all my inq fall off completely.

Weird...got my Wmt store w a 640 fico.

Got the upgrade after 24 mos with a 670-680'ish tu fico.

Got a $5k line :-) score!!!!

I think they also look at what current experience you have with other all purpose bankcards (mc, visa, disc, amex) :-)

could be an aaoa factor.

i had 3 store cards 19(nov10') 17(Dec10') and 7(Jan'12) months so my aaoa was like a year with my new cards that didnt report yet to my knowledge.

im sitting at a cool 8 months aaoa at the moment but thats with 6 new cards from this summer(including walmart) and an installment loan from end of august. that i got with a 708 score. (when my walmart tu was still reporting 738)
