Discover More Instant Approval

I have received about 5 or 6 pre-approved letters from Discover in the last 4 weeks, so I finally caved in and applied, instant approval for $5,500!

Is it worth trying to raise my initial credit limit? I've read a lot here that Discover will not budge until 6 months are up :/

You can ask 'em, buy per my recent approval.. They said no clis til six months :-x.

I got approved with a $4k limit and a 688 Eq fico. Nice initial limit there!!!!!

congrats i just got approved for $1200 last week. dont even try for a cli til 6 month mark

Congrats! The letters you received were in regards to the More card? Thats strange considering they are trying to sell the crap out of the IT card.. I was under the impression they were trying to have everybody either apply for the IT card or PC to the Motiva or another Discover branded card.

My scores are on my sig, but I think they might be a bit lower now, because I just refinanced my car and got a $9,000 CC with my credit union So not sure exactly what they are right now though.

I thought Discover would approve me for more, since I have a 9,500 and a 9,000 limit with Chase and CU..

I think that is a misconception in this board... They don't even advertise the IT card lol... How can they be promoting it without advertising it?!?! Lol pffttttt

Congrats on your card!

From what I've read on here, Discover is typically conservative on their initial CLs. There have been a few unexplained outliers, but those are not common. $5500 is a good starting CL for them.

Yes we always want more lool.

My scores are high, but not high enough Need to be over 780 to get the best rates out there for anything, I'm hoping to be there by the end of next year! Mainly because a lot of inquiries will fall off

I'll just just the card as normal for now and in 6 months request a CLI.

Excellent! A 5,500 is really good already and should earn you some really nice cash back rewards. Any particular reason for desiring a higher credit limit?

A higher limit makes it easier to keep util down, maximizing fico score And just because we always want more lol.

congrats, Discover is known to be conservative and they usually don't match CL's but that is a nice starting limit. Enjoy.

I just saw that they pulled my TU report, which is good, because it's the one with the least amount of inquiries
