BoA Amex??

I got a BoA Amex preapproval in the mail for my husband. I have the higher score, so I will probably call. Our CC util is high, but my Experian score is around 721. I would like to get a Balance Transfer and fix my util percentage and have a 0% interest rate until April 2009. Plus that card looks really cool - World Points and all.

I did a preapproval online for Amex cards and I was preapproved for: Gold, Green, Blue, Blue Sky and Hilton HHonors Platinum Credit Card.

Since I am not going for a new mortgage afterall and I haven't had any inquiries in a year... should I do a hard inquiry? Also on my Federal Credit Union card I just increased my CL with a soft pull from $10,000 to $12,000.

What do you all think?

So it's a card you want, no plans for a mortgage, you have a good score, and you have zero inquiries.

I don't see any reason not to!

P.S. I want that card too (see my siggy). Low APR, WorldPoints, concierge service, and $50 statement credit with first purchase. Nice.

What are you waiting for - you have good scores too right? I don't see the conceirge service or the $50 thing on my advertisement that I see. I do see WorldPoints, Retail Assurance through American Express Extended Warranty and Retail Proection and Travel Security - Roadside Assistance, Travel Accident Insurance and Car Rental Loss & Damage Insurance and American Express Trave Services locations worldwide... I've just never owned a real credit card before - just my Federal Credit Unions. I just talked to the mortgage guy and he told me to wait on refinancing and we may just want to pay down the credit cards and then work on the second loan ourselves without refinancing at all.... just doubling up on payments after we get our credit card utilization down

I'm nervous to call... I don't want a rejection.....

The concierge service is listed in the description on the website. It's not on the main page for the card, but it's on a pop up that comes up when you click the link that says "American Express Card Benefits." It's not the Amex concierge service, though. It's the same concierge the other BofA WorldPoints cards get.

Yeah, my EX score is decent enough to get the card. Hovering around 700, and I get the preapproval for this card, too. The only reason I'm not apping is that I already have too many new accounts. Need some age on those first or I'm just going to end up doing more harm than good.

BTW, CU cards are real credit cards, too.

Cheddar - I got it!!!! CL $15,000 I am moving my balances over :-) Cost 3% = $435. I got the answer right over the phone. I'm sooooo excited. Now the plan - to pay it off within the time limit - no problem!! :-)

BTW, if you ever use the concierge service, please let us (me) know how you like it. I asked the question here before but didn't get many answers. I'm curious how it compares to other services offered by Amex and Signature Visa cards, etc.

I just opened an BofA Amex card a couple of months ago. I'm not familiar with the concierge for the BofA WorldPoints. What are the perks?

That's kind of what I'm hoping someone will tell me, since I don't have the card (yet).

The service is called MyConcierge. The information on the BofA website is scant, if you can even find it.

I'm hoping to hear from people who have used it so I can know what to expect once I get this card. If it's a decent service, I might just look at getting this card as a "poor man's Amex Platinum."

I probably won't know for sometime due to the BT. I understand that I should not charge on it so that I can keep my 0% on my BTs.

I just can't get over getting an immediate answer over the telephone and her letting me know right then and there my CL and asking for my BR accounts.... I can't wait to pay it all down so I can charge and earn WorldRewards, etc.... :-)

That's right. I'm glad you're doing that. If you have a 0% BT do not charge anything else until the BT balance is paid off. Otherwis you'll have a balance at a higher rate (from your purchases) that will keep accumulating finance charges because all of your payments will be applied to the BT balance first, and you won't even be able to touch the higher rate balance until the lower rate balance is paid off.

Congrats again. Instant approvals are great, aren't they?

several things here,

one congrats on the card

two i find it very intersesting that the amex pre-approval link gave you more than the standard response (plat, gold, 2 blues) that the rest of us get.

also, boa is very good with cli's and you may want to make a small purchase. my boa amex gave a $50.00 statement credit after a purchase (check the terms and conditions).
