I put in a PC request on Cap1 Plat MC

No offers are currently available but I spoke to a supervisor. She is putting in a request for a manual review. We'll see what happens. I have tried to get a PC on this card in the past to no avail. I have had the card since 10/11. It was my first card on my way to rebuilding my credit. A month later, I got a Diamond Preferred from Citi and am eligible now for a product conversion on that So, I am wondering what the deal here is with Cap1. Sure, they generally suck in every way imaginable in terms of how they treat/handle customers and applications but they have some good cards. I am not sure if this manual review will amount to anything but she told me she will call back in 7-10 business days with an answer.

Has anyone ever had any luck converting this card to a rewards card...or any other card? The supervisor claims that it happens from time to time. I dunno. My Spark Biz card had been active for far less time (5/12) and is currently eligible for a conversion so it's not a span of time issue. And both cards have perfect payment history with 100% PIF histroy and not a penny of interest paid. So, it's not a cardholder performance issue.

So, I actually just got done with this process with the executive office as well. I had my CL increased on my Plat MC to 2k from 750. She told me that while she can't do a product change persay, she was able to add the cash rewards program to my Plat MC. So now I have rewards listed on my account online, for 1% back on any purchase, as well as a 50% annual bonus. I believe these are the same terms as the normal green cash rewards they offer.

Cool. That's weird. I didn' think they could or would do things like that. I figured that cards each had their individual reward structure and/or package of features and that was it. Maybe that will happen. I dunno. I'd rather just dump the Plat MC and get the Cash Rewards or Venture. That was my goal going into it.

BTW, what number did you call? I called the standard 800 955 7070 number. I called the ecalation number last week for the same issue. All he did was waive my $19 annual fee. Big Whoop. I want a different card.

The backdoor number I don't think is the right way to approach it, since I think that is for already outstanding cases. I would go the email route. There's a thread on it in here, but really it's just a matter of emailing the CEO. Google "capital one ceo email address" and it should come up. Tell them you've grown exponentially since you've started with them, you've had immaculate payment history, and you're interested in letting Cap1 grow with you, but you need a higher CL and rewards structure in order to really use it more. As long as the above things are true, it shouldn't be an issue. My info for requesting:

First got card 10/2011
First credit steps CLI from 500 - 750 in 04/2012
Requested CLI from cust service 10/2012, denied
Credit has grown from 525 in 05/2012 to ~650
Pushed 7k-8k through it in 10 months before discontinuing use because it was so hard to manage with a low CL
Never late, always PIF

Thanks for the tip Jutz. I'll email the CEO if this current process yields no results. I don't know if it's good to have two requests floating around at the same time in a big company. There's no communication and I can see it causing confusion.

That is basically how cap1 does PCs. That is how mine was done, when I PCd they asked if I wanted travel or cash back rewards, and then they mailed me the green jimmy fallon card.

Mine still says "Platinum Mastercard" as well but has the rewards listed underneath. If you go into a chat now session you can ask them to overnight you a card. They'll waive the fee if you're nice. haha.

Same. From what p- said in the other thread, they can't do a strict PC from the plat MC because the Fallon card is a Visa. You haven't actually gotten a different physical card yet, have you?

EDIT: From what I see, there's also a Fallon MC. However, my Plat is the newer version with no AF. The Fallon MC has a $39 AF. I don't plan on paying an AF just to carry the same card as Jimmy Fallon.

There is a cash rewards with AF and without AF. If you didn't have an AF before the PC then you probably won't afterwards. The only exception to this rule is the Venture (2%) card.

You have like 0.01% of getting PCed - They will waive AF and add rewards but won't change products. I attempted to do so via executive office by directly emailing the CEO and was unsuccessful. Got a CLI, but no PC.

Adding rewards is a PC....If they add miles...you've been PCd to venture...if they add cash, you've been PCd to cash rewards?

@Also @Jutz I have fallon card in my wallet, not in my hand XD lol It took a few tries after my upgrade. Once they added rewards they overnighted me 3 different cards, each of which was the same platinum card. Requests for so many cards put a fraud alert on my account, then finally 3 months later, a CSR cancelled my account for fraud without telling me and changed my account number, which resulted in my card being declined while trying to purchase a watch [embarassing, lol] so I called the exec office, they overnighted me the correct card with my new account number, and gave me a $50 account credit for my "troubles." I was thrilled. haha.

It's not a TRUE PC - you still have the Platinum card.. You don't have a real Venture or "Jimmy Fallon" card.

Like I said, they will waive AF, give rewards or CLI but they will NOT PC - the only person on this board out of all the people who have attempted to get a PC who actually got one was P-
