BCE Card is clear plastic?

All of the images of it on amex.com appear to be grey. Mine is clear. Have they always been clear? Maybe it's just a marketing thing because clear plastic is difficult to photograph.

Yep, it is transparent (clear). It doesn't give "prestige" feeling other AMEX cards have.

VERY cool looking card! I'm tempted to app in January -- for the backdating, cool card and 3% groceries. Amex has some of the nicest looking cards I've seen.

OK, had to know, called Amex, nicest person ever told me yep, it's clear, relax.

I joked with her that they already offer a clear card appropriately named "Clear". She came back with "that card (AMEX Clear) has been closed to new applications". So I tried while on the phone with her and it let me get to the application form. I was logged in. I went incognito and it still let me get to the app. Sooooo??? heads-up, maybe it's on the way out - not that many would miss it any longer.

I remember when Citi had a clear card, in every depiction of the card they made sure to put something behind it so it was visible.

I love the clear look of the BCE/BS/Blue. I just recently got my BCE so it's not too beat up yet. My mom's Blue Cash is really scratched and doesn't look as good, lol!

I was hoping it would have a titanium or platinum finish on the card like the pictures but unfortunately it is clear. It does get a second look when I give it to someone to swipe but that's mainly due to it being clear. It doesn't look all that classy in my opinion.

And I wish my Platinum card was actually metal. AMEX need to look to Chase and revamp some card designs by using metal cores or pearled plastics...

A friend thought it was trying to pay with a piece on plastic lol i had my thumb in the blue square and all you see was the clear parts. I think the Green/GoldPR and the SPG are classier looking than the BCE

I dont like my AMEX BCP design either, it doesnt look classy, or cool .... It kinda looks tacky in a way ... I really like their charge cards but I cant justify the AF ... I had my heart set on the Zync, too bad they discontinued it. I can't wait for my Sapphire Preferred to get here! I just want my metal card!! I think chase sends their cards on a horse, one week since I applied and no card :-/

I agree the BCE/BCP card design is ugly. Amex really dropped the ball with this design in my mind. I have the Zync and it was my way to get "in" with Amex, but I hate having it. I put my gym membership on it and that is pretty much it. I would much rather get rewards on my other cards. I also have the CSP and yeah it is cool that is metal, but I use it more for going out to eat and for travel not for it being metal. You might be waiting a while for the CSP to come, but once it does it is worth it. The only customer service I think that is just as good if not better is Discover. Enjoy the new card!

Obviously something wrong with me, but I don't get these discussions at all! How long do you spend looking at the cards? I just take mine out of the wallet, swipe it or hand it to the sales person, and take it back. Key feature for me is that it should be fairly easily distinguishable from the other cards in my wallet, and that is about it.

On that criteria, my BCP does well enough, and if it gets scratched, that doesn't matter as the edge is still distinctive.

(OK, MAYBE I would have an objection to a card shaped and colored like a dog turd, even though that would be easy to distinguish, but that's about it!)

To each his own. It's pretty clear (haha) which companies put time into designing the aesthetics. Discover is really trying with IT. Amex has a classic look on the charge cards, not so much on the house-brand revolvers. Citi tried real hard with Simplicity and TY, but to me they look like something my daughter would get in a toy wallet (she's 4). Citi Diamond and Dividend are classier, Forward is all over the place. Cap1 is just plain ugly. All of them. No wonder they let you upload your image. But even then those look fake like they were created on a 1997 inkjet.

With the effort some put into design I'd say the creditors ~~know~~ think it matters. What really matters of course is if it works when swiped. Aesthetics are secondary.

FYI, when you get a new Chase credit card, you can ask them to overnight it to you. In my experience, what happens is they overnight 1 card and send 1 card by regular mail, so you end up with 2 cards in the end.

I love the design of my BCP. Not necessarily a classic design like the Gold but still very cool looking. Actually, I really the designs of all three of my Amex cards - PRG, SPG and BCP. I think Amex has it all over other banks in terms of design.

Y'all are complaining about waiting a WEEK for your card? Amature hour. I'm on a small island in the Indian Ocean, I've been waiting a MONTH for my BCE. Christmas mail is the slowest time of the year, it took about 3 weeks the last couple of times.
