Another Walmart cc?...

I really want a walmart cc for the tu fico but was told by csr (underwriting) after a denial a lil while back that had to be @tleast 24 mnths post bk to qualify. BUT a family member just got approved no prob 7mnths out??

So, my question is, has anyone gotten approved for a walmart store or discover less than 24 mnths post chptr 7??? Curious ...thnx!!!

I did.....22 months pst chpt 7....$600 CL....648 TU

im almost positive it was the store card.

i was no bk with a 690 when i applied and got an 800 store card. from what i hear its discover if you qualify for 1k off the bat.

Well my bk was discharged November and I have one, so I think it is YMMV. I was a bit shocked to get an instant approval but I did get it. Maybe THAT csr is using HIS/HER own judgement on the bk. I would call back and speak to someone else, and if that doesn't work, rinse and repeat.

I've never heard of a waiting period post BK for GEMB. Probably a CSR who was misinformed. You may need to have some recent, positive history showing first. I had 1 yr w/2 secured loans on my CR and got approved for $200 on Old navy, which was my first rebuilder. Also, they tend to be a little more generous or lenient around the holiday time. So, you might want to try again. Or you may need to clean up any negs still on your CR before you app again.

What did your denial letter say? That's probably more accurate than what the CSR told you.

Just had a thought: Did you burn GE in your BK? That could account for the waiting period.

Yea it is the store card with $1K. I wanted Discover but oh well. Oh my TU score was 687.

Thnx for advice bichonmom...I have about 21 mnths post w/ 5 positive trade lines no negs other than iib acts and bk7 itself. The denial letter only listed reason was bankruptcy? I have never had a GE card, the only store card i ever had was kohls.
My scores were Eq 656 TU 661.

idk...so confused.

Like I said....call them back! Plead your case to someone who will listen. There was a thread here just recently about a lady who was denied a Chase card. She REALLY REALLY wanted it but she got the denial letter just like you did. She called back 5 times until she finally got approved.

Seems like you should have been approved, even w/a low starting CL. How long ago did you app? If it was within 30 days, then try calling the backdoor #. Most have reported no luck with this, but couldn't hurt to try. If longer than 30 days, then maybe reapply.

Alternatively, call and ask for a supervisor. If it's been over 30 days, they probably would need to do another HP, though. Maybe a supervisor could enlighten you as to the 2 year waiting period. Maybe say you have a friend (us!) who got a Walmart card less than 2 yrs post Bk, so why do they have the requirement for you and not for your friend.

Thank u both! It has been about 42 days since my app. I'm gnna take ur advice (both) and call. Can't hurt right...wish me luck..i thnk I'm gnna nd it :-(
