I had a Providian CO in 2000 as well. Applied for WaMu and declined due to this. Called in and the CSR told me in no uncertain terms that I would be denied "until further notice". So I guess there is a permanent blacklist for Providian COs...even though there is no such TL on any of my CR. I guess WaMu's memory is longer than EQ, EX and TU

I know this is an old thread but I might help some people. I defaulted on Providian in 2002 and this debt has been sold to Midland Collections (this is still on my record). Last year in August, Wamu sent me a pre-approved application which I applied and got rejected. Well this year, in November, I was offered the same pre-apporved Wamu Visa, I reapplied, and got accepted. Go figure... So even if you get rejected the first time, give it some time and you will get accept it eventually. One question though, since some of you mentioned that Providian doesn't keep old records, does this mean I can dispute the negative report from Providian? If so, how do I go about it? Thanks

Well I can be wrong - at least once(or 20)

I am still trying to get a good handle on the process of the Wamu/providian/SST thing they have going on even with a good friend that has worked for WAMU for a long time.

Opened my WAMU when I banked with them.

The DW had 2 providian cards one when to WAMU one went to SST.

Sorry to disagree with you Timothy, but I defaulted on a Providian card years ago when I had to file BK due to illness and now I have a WAMU Platinum. Also, a few years later, my DW had a Providian card sold when WAMU bought them out and she was turned down for a WAMU card several times, but now has a Platinum card as well. Seems as though time does heal some things.
