chances for nordstrom?

I have about 4 inqs Inqs on EQ in the last 6 months. 3 new account in last 6 months EQ score is 717. I dont mind if i get the store card. Ive been buying a lot of clothes from Nordstrom lately and have been using my discover to get 10% cashback. But i think this card could be useful for me and also because they offer a visa siggy version of it. What are my chances?

They're pretty inquiry sensitive. 4 inquiries might be pushing the envelope with them. I don't see any issue with your credit score though...you're usually good with anything over 700 with Nordstrom.

So they care about total inqs? If so then i have no chance lol but i read somewhere that they might approve you at recon if denied for too many inqs

The recon route is definitely one to explore if denied for inquiries.

I applied in November and was approved. At the time I had 4 inq (5with them). My EQ score was 697 and all my credit cards were opened in the past 2 mos. I did not get the Visa but the store card with a CL of $1000. Keep in mind, I was just starting my revolving history ( 2 mos AAOA over 7 years) and they gave me my highest store card at the time. My util was about 3%.

YMMV but based on your siggy you are a shoe in for the the siggy .

One other thing -APPLY IN PERSON. Don't be surprised if they ask you to tell them an account number of a credit card -with a limit- reporting on your CR. just one of the identity questions they asked me.

I was at my local nordstrom yesterday and was asked to app but i said no because it would of been embarrasing to be denied in front of that pretty girl lol i wanna app online. I have 4 inqs in the last 6 months but 17 in total....also i have a LOT of new accounts opened in last 12 months. I recently joined and appd for metrocu and was approved for 5k but i dont know if i could have the same luck with nordstrom.

If you app online you will not get an answer. They will send you a letter requesting identity documents. If you have time and want to wait ; then do it online.

The applying in store recommendation is a good one because it'll allow you to talk to a credit analyst on the phone right there as well as verify your identity. If you apply online and are questionable, it just turns into two separate events. Not a huge deal, but you're able to do everything at once in store.

Also when i try to check out signed in it wont let me choose any other cc option other than their own nordstrom cards. Is it the same with you?

When buying online? No...I can put in another payment option, but it defaults to the Nordstrom card, then you just have to put the 3 digit CID in thre.

+1 Before I applied I called their credit department and it was made clear that all online apps will receive a letter requesting identity documents. Almost like the application is suspended waiting verification before they will render a decision.

The OP might want to recheck.

For some reason it wont let me use other options to pay so i have to checkout as guest. Thats also another reason i want the nordstrom card.

Hmmm looks like all Nordstrom store card have an inital CL Of $1,000 thast the lowest they offer it seems like which is not bad at all. If you do apply please let us know

I have been shopping at Nordstrom for years before I got their card. Did you add the card you are trying to use in your profile before you tried to checkout? If not, it will not let you charge to a card not in your account settings.

I had a total of 6 inq (4 in the last year)/ 7 including Nordstrom. Two were from bank accounts (ING and Alliant) so I dont know if that helped or if they even cared.
