Chase Freedom Invitation

I've received this invitation in the mail from Chase to apply for their Chase Freedom card. I already have their SW Airline Card.

The only problem is, I carried some balance in my SW card last month, as a result my FICO Equifax has decreased to 635. Do you think I should still apply for this card right now or should I first pay-off my balance and then apply? I'm moving apartments next month. Although I'll update the address in my CR asap but I also don't wanna risk of getting denied due to inconsistency in address in the credit report. This invitation is issued for my current address & I'm afraid they wouldn't accept the invitation based on new address.

Does anyone know what's the minimum score needed to get this card?

Thats the standard offer that is floating around now for the freedom, not a targeted one.

So does this mean its not a pre-approval?

It says "pre-screened offer" at the bottom of the page though. Also, there's an invitation code

If it has a box somewhere on the bottom that says it was pre-screened and that you can go to optoutprescreen.org to stop receiving offers like this in the future (which is what I think you were getting at in your last post) than its probably a legitimate preapproval based on a recent soft pull.

Not really sure what the minimum score is but 635 is borderline in my opinion.

How big of a balance (%) is on the southwest card? its entirely possible that the sp preapproval chase sent you is based on outdated information, which does not factor in the fact that your utilization has increased along with the corresponding fico score drop. If I were you that would be my first concern. So I would wait until you pay down the sw balance.

As far as the change of address, if there were any problem from chases end they would likely just ask you to call in to verify some personal info. You wouldn't be denied outright as long as you call them to explain.Also, I wouldn't worry about them not accepting the invitation either, since it's the standard offer being given to all applicants, meaning you will still get the bonus either way. If it's a big concern to you, you could always apply in a branch ( assuming you live near one) where they could verify identity on the spot.

sounds like no pre approval but you passed a number of checks on their own internal list.

i appled for two chase cards last feb and was denied.

i applied for freedom in july and got accepted for a measly 500, and i got the get 100 cash back after 500 spend. (no targeted offer just apped via a rep over the phone)

If you need the card then yes, go for it.

If you don't need the card right now then you're better off gardening IMO

Agree. It has nice rewards, but if you do not need it ... if you want it and an inq does not matter for you (if denied), go for it.

I app´d Saturday night, received the 7-10 day message, called recon at 9 PM and had a nice conversation with a very friendly rep. I already loving Chase, not only because of the limit i did get, but because he was really nice ...

One more question... I have $8,500 limit in SW card. Do you guys think if approved, they'll give me a lower limit based on my current score or a higher limit based on SW CL and income (around $87,000)...? What would count more in my case?

How long have you had SW? I had freedom/slate for about a year and was approved for united and csp five days apart both having $5k limits

That's not a long enough time for Chase to consider your SW when determining your credit limit. They typically want to see accounts a year old.

does anyone have a guess (based on past chase freedom offers) whether the $100 offer is going to increase in the next few months (like it did around this time last year)? I really want to add Chase Freedom to augment the UR points from my CSP, but I don't want to do it if the offer is going to go up a few weeks after I get it.

chase gives you 90 days to get a better sign up bonus, should a better one come along that is. Nobody really knows when these limited time awesome Signup bonuses will come around for any particular card.
