Discover card closing account

I received a notice that my account would be closed due to non-use, but if I use it by the end of the month, I would receive a promotional rate on my purchases until Nov 2008.

Is it better to use it and pay it off, or to let it close?

It's a cashback bonus card - I never activated it when I received a new card.

Yes! Use it! Go out to dinner and put it on the card. Get some history on it. Even if one time. then pif, and don't use it for 3 months, if you want to. The history on the card will be good for you.

Wow, you inadvertantly wound up with the best of all worlds: an old card with a new card rate, but no inq. Hard to beat that!

Tank of gas every month, or a grocery run every three. Discover is useful to have on your side.
