Pulled the trigger, Discover IT

After surfing the boards, I decided to see if Discover had any pre-approvals for me. Went to the website, put in my info and got my first pre-approval in over a decade. I debated for a minute, then figure, why not. I app'd and got an approval, but there was a problem with the site and I couldn't register. I called CS and talked to a CSR out of Salt Lake City Utah. She said it looks like you've been approved for a Discover It with a CL of $5500. My next highest CL is my Barclay NFL at $2500 so this more than doubled it!

Congrats. This is one of 3 cards that I would really like to have, but I am not sure that I will be approved yet, so I am going to wait a few more months at least.

I got approved with a 641 experian fico pulled and over 25 inquires. 1k limit. No 0% offer but 3.9% instead.

You mind sharing a bit more about your credit profile? I have 2 inqs. right now (09/12 and 01/13), AAoA is 4 years, and just 3 baddies (2 student loan collections from '07/08ish, and an auto loan late payment in '07 which is reporting wrong), and 9% util as of 01/13, which is now down to 3% (I PIF every month anyways). I don't see any pre-approvals on their website, so it makes me hesitant to apply...

If you look back over the Discover approval threads you will notice my continual disbelief at these CLs. This thread will continue that trend. I am amazed at their generosity and I am seriously considering getting in while they are so generous. I need to pay my balances down before my next statement date to show low util, but then I might go for this thing.

I want a Discover so bad but they would't even approve me for a student card when I tried 2 months ago

I PIF and have no other debts, not even student loans (woo hoo!!!) so I really dont understand why they hate me

What other cards do you have, snowsurf? A lack of credit history could be hurting you, since you have what we call a thin file and lenders won't be able to determine how well you have manged credit in the past. This is a major indicator of future credit performance, and is generally helpful for getting new credit cards.
