I just got approved after a recon and I have 1 year of credit history on a $300 secured card, 3 new credit cards and a new car loan all within a month in a half and 8 INQ so I think you should be golden. If they do happen to deny you I see no issue getting approved through recon but YMMV. Good Luck!

Hello,

I finally decided to post on here after reading hundreds of these forums. Here is my question: I am currently in law school and I am trying to build my credit. In Novemebr I was approved for a Citi Diamond Prefferred with a $1K limit and I have a Cap One Plat. with $750. I recently learned about util% and started paying my credit cards off, which I do every month, before the cycle ends so that my balances will report low. I would like to apply for a Chase Freedom card and I was curious about my approval odds. My CK score is 624, which still reports 81% util. I'm waiting for my correct balances to post before I apply. Once that happens my credit score should jump up. Also, I only have 4 Inq. on all of my credit reports over the last 2 years, inluding one this month from when I leased my car. Any advice you have would be appreciated. Thank you so much! Oh, and my averge account history is 1yr 4months.

I am going to hit you with some solid advice, wati untill the utility drops off and than pull your Fico score on here. Dont rely on Credit Karma to know where you stand. Credit Karma Is 50 points lower than my Fico so you really dont have a clue what your real credit score is.

Your AAoA looks good! I had about a year and a half when i applied! Inquiries are relatively low, so thats not a problem. Make surento have 1%-9% utility before applying, preferably on one card, for better odds since Chase can be a stickler on utility! I think your score will rebound significantly once your utility drops. Have you had any negatives or baddies on your reports? Bk? If not youre good to go once everything updates with better information! Good luck!

Yeah, but if he has absolutely no negatives his current reports and and FAKOs will be sufficient to gauge where he stands. I never used FICOs until joining this site, and even then i wouldnt pay monthly for it. I only have a real one through DCU. However, if he does have any lates or such baddies, then definitely, get your real FICOs because FAKOs may gauge you higher or lower than you actually are at. But then again it is up to him!

FICO is actually very often the "blind" portion of information. Two people with identical scores can have very different profiles, and therefore very different chances for approval. I would much prefer that a poster tell me everything else about themselves and leave out FICO, because that can usually be guessed at within some range of confidence using the other information. Overall, lenders very rarely look at FICO alone for approval criteria.

Also, not everyone feels comfortable pulling their scores from here or getting into a situation to pay for their scores. So I respect that.

Good luck, OP! I hope you get the card.
