Discover It Application? Account Setup

so my dad has been getting an it preapproval every week so with his premission we applied.

he got a 5-7 day message BUT let him set up a discover account.

is this a good sign or bad?

monday is a holiday so....

yay or nay? what do ya'll think?

Did he call to expedite? I had thought usually they also indicate that you can call a specific number to expedite things.

I applied today and got that same message and noticed it let me set up an account. In the message it gave him should have been a phone number to call to expedite.

CALL IT! They just wanted to verify the wages and housing expenses listed, and to ask about my student loans - like when they'd be out of deferrment.

I got approved on the phone with a great limit.

CALL!

he's at work till 11. and tommorrow im at work 10-3 he works 3-11 lol.

the problem is he doesnt understand english well over the phone. and hes afraid to talk to the reps. i cant call for him otherwise i would.

He's got to call them to verify some information before they will give him the card. The same thing happen to me.

I got the 5-7 day message yet was requested to set up account access too. I had the same question you do, but it worked out that I was approved. Sooooo I would say congrats because he's got it!

my parents want a mortgage in the next few years so since they kept sending pre approvals we figured why not.

hopefully this is a good sign.

Encountered the same thing yesterday except I noticed it said if I wanted to expedite the process to call this number. Like everyone else mentioned they asked about a bunch of inq that appeared last month as I was shopping for a new car. Then they asked about the job, how long I've been doing it, what I did, rental situation, then she saw another loan for my wife's car which we co-signed together and I told her it was my wife's and she said ok. She also asked how much I was planning on using this card. Quick and painless and one of the best customer service reps I've had the chance to speak with.

sorry to bump thread that is now "old"

just wanted too update you guys!

he was approved pending verification

the rep called him monday when we were in nyc and he was like call me back later.

so we called tuesday morning.

was approved for 1500! which is pretty good since his utility is 60% (au's on my moms accounts)

and only has his own 500 cap one that should be getting 750 in june!

Great sign... same thing happened to me and I was approved for a 5k CL... The card is gorgeous and their account manager is awesome.. Top notch... Good luck..

lol thanks. we actually arent that close. but its funny because the guy asked why he wanted the discover it and he said that me "his son" was a banker and reccomended him the card. he asked if I worked for discover. lol(i don't) dont even have any discovers yet.

and thanks guys, im making sure he gets his credit right now!

soft pull for cli or hard pull?

i read somewhere someone cli to 20k in a time span of years. so just curious.

the card came in!

its really nice!

they pulled eq. score of 673 750 limit. 0% interest till 5/14 and bt until 5/14 as well.

i want too app for one too, but i have self control... ughhh ohhh.

hmm good point. i dont know why i would post 1500 if thats not what he told me. (could have sworn that is what he told me.)

the card does say 750!

ill have to ask once my parents come back from dinner at my aunts.
