Invitation? What kind of invitation? I don't think I've ever had an invitation....only pre-approvals.

Hey. I got an "invitation" as well from Discover about a month ago to app for the more card. I went to the site, and was instantly approved, so in my case, yes. I would imagine this invitation you received is of the same ilk.

Thanks concord. My FICO scores at the time of application were as follows. TU 706, EQ 693, EX 705 - I believe they pulled TU for me. I do have lots of baddies (more than 40) on my CR, but (and I think I've mentioned this before), I've ALWAYS PIF on every card I have for the past (at least) 36 months, so this probably influenced Discover's decision.

Nope-

Can't do it-

I managed to drop my avg age under 4 years (broke my own rule)

I have always been under the impression that an "invitation" is one step below a "preapproval."

Big difference between "You have been preapproved to apply for..." and "You are invited to apply for..."

I applied online with them this past Monday. They pulled TU for me, and was reporting to the CRA's by Wednesday. I'm in Texas.

An invitation to apply for discover is an application for any and all HSBC products. I found out the hard way and it cost me 2 hard's.

Hey. Just got off the phone with Discover, and found out I will be getting 75 bucks cash back when my next statement cuts. This is nice because I completely forgot about the bonus which was detailed in my "invitation".

I am curious to find out whether or not your invitation was offering 75 bucks cash back after you spend 500 in the first three months after opening the account.
