Best Buy Card Arrived Today!

I got my new Best Buy card in the mail. It doesn't have the MC logo on it and the info enclosed says it is Program A. I've heard on here that Program B is bad as the account isn't eligible for CLIs and the card comes with a low limit. Did I score the good card? For those that missed my previous posts, I got approved for $2500. Thanks all.

Yeah you got the good one. I have store card but was recently informed that my card is at its Max cl. Ive had it for 2 years and it is set in stone at the starting limit $500. They say I have to close card and reapply if I want an increase. So Sucks. But I have $7200.00 discover limit. I like the zero % interest but seriously considering closing it.

Sweet! I tell ya, I was afraid to apply but I had $3000 worth of merchandise on the counter I really wanted (needed) for the new home. They said my score was 679. It was 703 but got dinged by the car, the house, and one other credit card. I am totally in gardening mode.

I would consider closing it and reapplying for the good one if you shop Best Buy.

Congrats! It's a nice little card. Certainly has been helpful with their 0% financing offers! Now will it grow with you? You never know with CapOne...

Yep that is the BIG question, will it grow with me? We will see! I have little faith when it comes to Cap1 and CLIs.

To answer the other poster's question: yes, I received the store version of the card in the mail yesterday. There is no "MC" logo on it and the paper that discuss the APR says "Program A" at the top.

The mastercard isnt necessarily bad anymore because from what I've heard they got rid of the gold card and now only have the platinum (which is one tier above the store card).

As far as growth, i know ron has like a 30k limit on his best buy card, so it is possible.

CapOne->Citi at the end of 2013

I don't have a Citi product (main or store co-brand), no clue what their service/benefits/etc is

Very true! Remember seeing a post on that a week or two ago. I too will be curious to see how they handle the store card. Cap1 has been pretty stingy with me! No complaints (yet) about Citi, though I have only called a handful of types. Once I get my balances down this year I will see how they handle a PC or upgrade request for my basic thankyou card.

The thing I don't understand is how can you say the Platinum version is one tier above the store card when there is only a $500 limit on it and it isn't available for CLIs? That part confuses me.

I applied last week only got a 300 limit and thought it was just the store card but got an email today saying its the master card I was kinda surprised since my scores aren't very high . But figured it might be because I have another cap1 card. Really wanted it for the 0% financing but I'm glad I got it since citi will be taking over. Hopefully it will help me get one of there other cards once they take over.

Actually I believe the store card comes with higher limits than the MasterCard but can only be used in the Best Buy store.

MovingForward:you can get limits higher than 500$,and it has a lower apr. Who says you can ONLY have a 500 limit?

Also clearly it is a step up because you get the store card when you can't be approved for the mastercard...

im not sure if this is true now, but back in '10 when I applied for the card I was told that the store version was the hardest too get. (back when hsbc was handling accounts) and many posts on here have stated the same. There is so many different tiers (I know it sounds backwards because it is)

Store Card-A

Store Card-B(usually can't go above 1k limit) (and also cannot be pced too other card)

now I think they took out the af mc, but still

The consideration matrix hasn't changed and it is as follows: Reward Zone® Platinum MasterCard®, Reward Zone® Gold MasterCard®, Reward Zone® Credit Card Program A, Reward Zone® Credit Card Program B, and then Reward Zone® Gold MasterCard® with annual fee. Confirmed with analyst but I don't know if the Gold AF version is still issued as of today. The Platinum is at the top, and very few qualify.
