Sapphire-- Pending review

So I posted a few days ago that I was Instantly approved for Chase Freedom (had an invitation) and Discover IT (cold app). Well, March 5th, an invite for Chase Slate came in the mail... figured, oh what the heck: APPROVED $1000!. Feeling bold (not sure what was I was thinking), I cold apped for Chase Sapphire (not preferred), figuring it would be denied... and to my surprise, I was not instantly denied, but told my application needed further review! Its been a couple of days and still no decision. I could really care less whether I get it or not as I am pretty happy with my other recent approvals! Should I call? or just wait for the "Unfortunatley, we were not able to approve you at this time" letter?

You need to call. Typically, they reject any application within 30 days of application for another chase product. Maybe that didn't happen with slate because it was a preselected invitation? Anyway, you just need to call the recon line and explain why you want this card in addition to the freedom and slate. You may have been declined for another reason, but why not find out? You already took the inquiry, might as well try to get the card.

Like the others said. Give them a call. The guy that I talked to when I called was very nice and personally went over my credit report. Had a couple questions (I had a BK in 2005) but ultimately came back and gave me the 5,000 CSP. I really couldn't believe it when it was approved.

Don't worry about calling. If you don't get approved on the first call, call again. I read a thread on here where a guy called 4 or 5 times before finally being approved.

Just got off the phone. Was denied because I have a few late payments almost two years ago now. She said that I have a really good chance if I have a solid year of history with my Freedom and Slate to get approved for the Sapphire. Oh well. I will probably take a HP around the holidays for a CLI on both, but until then-- Garden Time!!
